Substance Abuse Counselor (CV1269-1) - Reentry Services Division
We are looking for a Substance Abuse Counselor to join our dynamic and growing team. They will be an integral part of the treatment team.
The Substance Abuse Counselor performs a treatment function and is the primary provider of clinical services to clients. This position maintains accountability for the client as established through the funding source, and according to agency Policy.
The Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for conducting risk/needs assessments and developing service plans for all clients assigned to their caseload, and implementing those plans subject to review by the Treatment Team and/or approval of the Program Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A NJ LCADC or CADC or another licensed health professional doing work of an alcohol and drug counseling nature within their scope of duties.
Additional job-related skills include: working with addictive behaviors; a basic understanding of human behavior; and utilizing group dynamics to address special needs populations.
REQUIREMENTS:
Effective written and verbal communication skills
An ability to interact appropriately with clientele
Knowledge of social learning theory, cognitive-behavioral intervention and approaches is preferable
Skilled in assessment and evaluation
Willingness to work flexible hours, which may include weekends and evenings
Demonstrated competencies in training, group interaction, and mentoring
Basic computer skills
A valid driver's license and be able to meet certain driver standards
This successful candidate must be able to pass criminal background clearance and drug screening.
