Microsoft Corporation US Health & Life Sciences, Executive Engagement & Communications Lead Business Program Manager in Cambridge, Massachusetts

The US Healthcare & Life Sciences Industry (HLS) Operating Unit (OU) is accountable for leveraging deep industry and technical expertise to enable sales, business development and partner teams to deliver relevant, high-quality solutions and services to empower our HLS customers to digitally transform their businesses.

Our mission is to lead the healthcare industry on their secure, digital transformation. The HLS Executive Field Engagement & Communications Lead will be the key partner for the HLS Senior Leadership Team on executive and field engagement, communications, and business support for our 875-plus person national sales & support organization. This individual will be working closely with the HLS Vice President, HLS COO and General Managers, and their sales teams to support our large and growing organization. This individual will have extensive experience with both internal and external executive engagement, communications, marketing program and event management, and general business management specifically having supported VP-level executives and a large sales/marketing organization.

This role requires the ability to think both at a strategic and programmatic level, be able to effectively drive processes and consistency across the business and deliver impactful business outcomes. This individual needs to be comfortable working with and engaging senior leaders while managing priorities in a fast-paced, complex environment.

This role will orchestrate across a variety of internal participants for core deliverables and requires an individual who is a great team player, a self-starter, strategic thinker and adaptable to solve issues and drive solutions across the business.

High Level Responsibilities:

  • Strategy/Program Management: Exercises sophisticated foresight and strategic judgment on matters of concern to Microsoft and the HLS organization and provides advice and counsel to executive management on unusually complex and critical issues

  • Gathers and applies intelligence findings through a highly evolved network with senior executives, as well as key/senior-level external elites, regarding highly strategic or sensitive issues affecting Microsoft’s HLS team’s long-term objectives or future issues

  • Is relied upon, internally and externally, as a trusted advisor and strategic partner by the Leadership Team as well as key/senior-level external elites, for depth and breadth of expertise, strategic vision, and the ability to anticipate future issues

  • Provides and/or champions thought leadership on cutting-edge initiatives and solutions that significantly impact the advancement of Microsoft’s Industry Teams long-term objectives and priorities

  • Demonstrates leadership in communicating Microsoft’s HLS perspective on highly strategic issues with top-level external decision makers, including external elites, and effectively garners their active support, which significantly impacts the advancement of Microsoft’s public policy and/or citizenship agenda

  • Represents the company publicly in high-profile settings and skillfully handles highly charged situations

  • Leads efforts to align stakeholder interests to Microsoft to significantly advance Microsoft’s priority business objectives, while creating and maintaining goodwill among stakeholders

  • Leads advocacy plans and ongoing strategic relationships and coalitions with external elites to ensure optimal positioning as advocates for Microsoft policy, citizenship, and business priorities

  • Provides thought leadership in identifying and closing high-impact sales and market opportunities to strategically partner with the HLS key business/client leads

  • Designs and leads through strong collaboration on cross-group projects, which are of strategic importance to Microsoft’s HLS team, or that involve senior executive participation, to develop scalable and sustainable solutions

  • Proactively fosters synergies and collaborates with senior-level internal stakeholders to ensure a mutual understanding and an alignment of objectives, priorities, resources, and rhythm of the business

Tactical Responsibilities:

  • Support prep for the Vice President and LT for Executive Engagement Meetings, coordination and coaching with account teams, presentation, and content

  • Ensure follow through with organizing notes, action items, follow up communications and thank you messages

  • Build and maintain a library of content and presentation materials

  • Creates, manages, and executes innovative and creative comms strategy, plan, and calendar (internal and external)

  • Deliver executive-level work products including scripts, speeches, videos, and social media amplification plans

  • Support VP and Leadership Team with board membership and partnership obligations

  • Manage vendor relationship for professional comms support

  • Partner with Marketing organization on external communications, programs, and events, and provide centralized feedback from OU

  • Partner with Internal Business Partners to ensure strategy alignment and participation

  • Identify opportunities for Leadership Team engagement and coordinate execution

  • Partner with COO, VP Executive Business Administrator, and other key Office of the VP staff to ensure alignment with Rhythm of Business

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of proven communications, marketing, and event management with general business management preferably in a technology sales & marketing organization, with experience in the healthcare industry preferred

  • Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, collaboration, ability to balance competing projects in a fast-pasted and ambiguous environment

  • Business maturity and experience working internal and external executive engagement with VP-level and above stakeholders

  • Ability to rapidly gain/build trust and confidence of internal and external stakeholders

  • Always proactive, forward thinking

  • A growth mindset

  • Strong aptitude working with numbers, with an analytical ability, problem solving, and critical thinking skills is required

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a Business, Communication Studies, or related discipline (MBA Preferred), or 10+ years relevant experience is required

Location: Flexible – Central or Eastern Region - preferred.
