Position Description:Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT) is a community of Information Technology professionals committed to delivering service and technological solutions in support of teaching, learning, research and administration. HUIT Academic Technology is looking for a motivated Software Engineer to join our team, and play an integral role in a dynamic, impactful development process. In this role, you will engage in every aspect of the software development life cycle; from gathering client requirements and designing robust software architecture to implementing both backend and client-side code. You'll also be actively involved in builds and deployments, handling releases, quality assurance, creating technical documentation and troubleshooting to ensure seamless operations and the successful delivery of our services.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Academic Platforms & Development, you will be joining a dynamic team of software engineers who work on a diverse array of impactful projects for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS), leveraging a wide range of innovative technologies. From academic computing and high-performance platforms powered by JupyterHub and OnDemand to the automation of cloud-based infrastructure deployments, you'll have the chance to contribute to the full spectrum of strategic initiatives. Our team is working on bringing new AI tools and solutions to help faculty and researchers enhance their teaching and learning efforts.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Participate fully in software development life cycle

  • Implement and support technical solutions to deliver business requirements

  • Identify, evaluate and implement opportunities to improve services

  • Contribute ideas to coding best practices and new technologies

  • Draw on relationship and technical skills to act as technical liaison to internal and external clients
