OUTREACH AND EVENTS ASSISTANT, Center for International Studies (CIS), to be responsible for planning and executing outreach activities and events to support CIS programs, public events, and projects. Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; at least three years’ experience in events organization, marketing/communications, social media, or related field; excellent writing, editing, copyediting, interpersonal, and organizational skills; meticulous attention to detail and accuracy; ability to maintain confidentiality; tact and discretion when dealing with the general public, a wide cross-section of the MIT community, and outside speakers and participants; demonstrated ability to deliver social media content and disseminate email marketing using tools such as Constant Contact and MailChimp; solid understanding of strategic approaches and tactics to reach target audiences; and technical proficiency with MS Office and willingness to learn new programs and software as needed. Must be able to organize public events; prioritize and handle multiple and varied tasks, follow through on work, and meet deadlines; and work both independently and as part of a team, interacting with a diverse group of faculty, students, and staff. PREFERRED: bachelor’s degree; MIT experience; experience maintaining and developing websites using a content management system such as Drupal or WordPress; experience with online event and collaboration tools such as Slack, Gather.town, and Hopin; advanced-level computer software skills, including design, video editing, and web authoring; and interest in international relations or global education.
