Thus, modernizing the Sanofi operational structure is also required. In line with this, project DRIVE is shepherding change throughout the organization and created the development of the Go-to-Market Capabilities (GTMC) team within the company.
The new GTMC organization is charged with delivering best-in-class capabilities to bring speed and increased value to commercial operations. It will refine priorities across products, markets, and the pipeline through dynamic resources allocation and efficiencies. Silos that existed between business units as well as duplicative and overlapping resources will be replaced with standardized processes and tools. Operating with a One Sanofi mindset and entrepreneurial spirit, GTMC will accelerate and improve key capabilities to do more with less and facilitate the best-informed strategic decision making across the organization.
The GTMC organization aims to:
Centralize Go-to-Market operational tasks across GBUs
Standardize best in class capabilities, strengthen global support, and implement a better vertical reporting structure within GTMC from local to global
Define ways of working, bringing clarity on the interactions across GBUs, Digital, and Commercial executional support teams from Sanofi hubs to optimize process excellence and efficiency
The Lead, Competitive and Market Insights for Stable Brands is responsible for leading a team focused on delivering integrated competitive intelligence (CI) and market research (MR) insights deep rooted in an understanding of the external healthcare environment and Sanofi’s internal business. This is a player-coach role, and based on the experience of the candidate, they will have direct responsibilities for market research and or competitive intelligence for some of the products supported by their team. Leading with an action-oriented insights approach, they will help drive global and local strategies. The Senior Director will be an integral strategic partner to Sanofi’s commercial leadership and many cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., market access, medical affairs etc.) They will lead a high performing team that aims to exceed expectations of those they support. Partnering with the Sanofi extended offshore team to maximize the insights generation and delivery process is also a key responsibility of the role.
This position will report to the GTMC, Global Head of MRCI Sanofi and will be based in Cambridge, MA - Bridgewater, NJ.
Main Responsibilities
Together with other MRCI leads, co-create and implement the MRCI team purpose to:
Bring the best resources to each MRCI deliverable and key stakeholder exchange
Drive innovation where marketing teams can leverage more actionable insights faster
Inform both high level strategic tradeoffs and operational execution on key issues
Ensure insights delivery to Stable brand stakeholders are tailored to each specific audience to empower commercial teams
Guide the brand planning process via strategically grounding it in insights from the most relevant and timely market research and competitive intelligence
Be a MRCI expert and cross-functional consultant:
Attend, contribute to (where applicable) and report back on both medical and MRCI subject matter conferences to advance expertise on both
Be an integrated insights leader working in lockstep with the I&A Business Analytics team as well as across the MRCI team with market research and competitive intelligence excellence partners
Foster strong agency relationships to ensure seamless insights gathering and findings that deliver on key brand business objectives
Specialize across a number of different therapy areas, collaborating with Senior Directors/Directors in other TAs/I&A pillars to avoid duplication
Take part in commercial meetings and proactively identify market research and competitive solutions for key business questions, regularly revisiting and realigning according to business need
Maintain comprehensive and current understanding of the evolving Stable asset portfolio landscape
Support the design and execution of competitive and market research planning initiatives, collaborating with glocal brand leads to support pre- and post-launch readiness efforts
Ensure the effective implementation of all MRCI activities such as primary research through timely and appropriate coordination with stakeholders and external vendors.
Manage vendor selection process, oversee multiple vendors together with internal partners, as needed
Effectively own the CI and or MR function fully for a subset of Stable products, directly manage projects and commercial team relationships
Effectively lead the MRCI Stable Asset Team
Model and teach a best practice MRCI approach to enable exceptional team performance and commercial support, providing coaching and training as needed
Retain and develop high-quality talent
Maximize adoption of innovative methodologies and best-practices via trainings / upskilling workshops
Coordinate with commercial leadership to prioritize and balance team resources and workload
Oversee the management of the team’s budgets across the product portfolio
Ensure proper dynamic resource allocation and guidance to the team in support of priority strategic initiatives
Oversee all MRCI projects and deliverables to ensure high quality and valid research is completed across the onshore and offshore teams
Rigorously uphold the Company's standards of ethics and policies for market research and competitive intelligence gathering, ensuring the whole team is compliant
About You
Education Requirements
- MS / MA degree required, a scientific degree (either B.S. or M.S) preferred, equivalent combination of MR/CI and relevant consulting experience may be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree
Skills and Competencies
A minimum of 12 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry; equivalent combination of education (MA, MS, MBA / PhD) and / or relevant consulting experience may be considered
5 years management experience required
Strong understanding of all types of market research and competitive intelligence monitoring and reporting methodologies, with experience of conducting primary market research in either
Strong quantitative skills, including data analysis and statistics, Strong analytics capabilities and demonstrated application of skills and any related tools preferred
Demonstrated ability to drive to deadlines, balance competing priorities, and ensure high quality
Experience with vendor-side market research or CI firm and/or consulting firm strongly preferred
Experience across global, regional, local roles strongly required
Product launch experience strongly required
Experience working directly within or partnering with related functions including new product planning, marketing, value and access required
Knowledge and experience with pharmaceutical data sources (e.g., prescription and sales data, patient claims data, promotional audits) preferred
Demonstrated ability to drive to deadlines, balance competing priorities, and ensure high quality deliverables
