Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff for the GM of Microsoft US East Coast Engineering, the Business Manager collaborates with local site teams, human resources, recruiting, finance, communications, corporate and legal affairs, philanthropies, and others to enable:
Operational excellence across sites within the region, including the development and sharing of best practices across locations and support of the regional business operations community.
Employee engagement programs to positively impact our engineering and research employee experience.
Ecosystem development + engagement in the communities where we work and live.
Engagement of the region’s ecosystems of STEM students, universities, and tech communities as well as customers and partners.

Support the Chief of Staff in maintaining a rhythm of the business (RoB) that drives execution of core business priorities and encourages best practice sharing across sites.
Deliver on programs in support of strategic initiatives or cross-group projects contributing to the overall strategy for engaging communities and ecosystems in the region. Track and communicate progress against success metrics.
Collaborate with relevant teams to deliver programming that shapes a positive, inclusive, and innovative culture at our engineering and research centers.
Maintain relationships with peers outside the team to ensure cross-group strong collaboration.
Partner with the Finance team and business managers at each of the engineering and research centers to support financial planning and budgeting. Participate in expense reporting, budget tracking, and reconciliation activities for the team as needed.
Represent the region in various meetings to ensure we are driving consistent messaging across stakeholders.
Plan and execute meetings, events, offsites, and partnerships both inside Microsoft and external with partners.
Continuously look for ways to simplify and drive process improvements and efficiencies.
Exercise sound judgment, tact, diplomacy, integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in communicating information and working with all levels of employees.
Bachelor/Associate degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
5 years demonstrated experience in operations management and execution with proven track record of managing a complex program or project.
Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work in ambiguous environments and drive towards clarity/alignment.
Motivated self-starter with the ability to work with minimal direction and supervision.
Exceptional influence and collaboration skills. Ability to get things done working collaboratively across a highly matrixed organization.
An aptitude to work independently without significant oversight or instruction to achieve results with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail under deadline pressure.
A strong ability to collaborate and communicate effectively, demonstrating excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Ability to travel 20-30%.
