GCSS Tools Support Engineers design, develop, modify, and implement software programming for support tools and systems (both internal and external) with the focus on surpassing customer expectations by achieving high quality, ease of use and on time delivery. These tools are critical to delivering the highest quality support product to our customers directly and indirectly by providing our internal GCSS team the capabilities to efficiently and effectively perform their jobs contributing to the overall success of the customer and the team. Responsible for ensuring the overall functional quality of the released product on all required platforms and mechanism. Ability to understand complex products, solutions, and problems. Create, document, and execute software designs which may involve complicated workflows or multiple product areas. Acts as Technical Lead of one or more projects within one area of a product. Provides input to the technical direction for one area of a product. Able to solve complex technical problems. Provide specialized expertise within multiple systems, software disciplines, as well as general knowledge of related disciplines, applications implications, and customer areas. Work with minimal supervision on complex projects with wide latitude for independent judgment. Highly skilled with extensive proficiency and technical expertise.
Develop required support tools, primarily front-end application/UI development.
Prepare UI mock-ups, use cases, task flows, prototypes.
Analyze and resolve UI design alternatives and issues.
Turn requirements into simple and intuitive user interfaces.
Ability to understand complex products, solutions, and problems and develop solutions.
Create, document and execute software designs which may involve complicated workflows or multiple product areas.
Act as technical lead and/or participant in one or more projects.
Work with minimal supervision on complex projects with wide latitude for independent judgment.
Degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent.
3+ years of experience in the full stack development, front-end development or UI development.
Knowledge and proficiency within industry standard programming and development skills.
Passionate about producing high-quality solutions.
Driven to enhance the end user experience through new and innovative ideas.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
AWS (or Azure, Google Cloud)
Database (Postgres, MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch) – implementation, management, and querying
Experience working with CI (TeamCity, Jenkins, CircleCI, Travis)
MVC – along with other basic software design patterns
Understand Support (done support ideally)
Can manage their own projects and drive the solution
Evidence they can maintain their own software and software written by others
Understanding of how to build highly available and performant solutions
