Summary

The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for high quality and responsive service to the business and its employees. The HR Coordinator will be the first point of contact for HR enquiries from field employees on policies, procedures, benefits, and recruitment.

Key Responsibilities

• Positively participate in the Company Safety and Goal Zero Initiatives and adhere to all safety requirements.

• Working with Safety and Operations to ensure safety policies are followed and assisting with coaching and/or disciplinary action where required.

• Full cycle recruitment including job description creation and posting, resume screening, prescreening and reference checking, and interviewing.

• Responsible for onboarding, employee data entry, and new hire orientations.

• Processing hiring and employment related transactions in multiple HR (SAP) and Payrol (JD Edwards) systems with a high level of efficiency and accuracy.

• Collaborate with payroll to ensure payroll/HR systems are set up appropriately and accurately within payroll deadlines

• Revamp and creation of new hire, rehire, and supervisor/leadership orientations.

• Partnering with the field operations staff to be educated on the business in order to work strategically with the HRBP on employee engagement, talent acquisition, and retention initiatives.

• Working in conjunction with the HRBP to promote and facilitate IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility) programs and initiatives.

• Building partnerships with local organizations and high schools to better promote careers in construction to youth, Indigenous people, and women and improve talent acquisition and retention.

• Working with Field Supervisors to complete employee evaluations for hourly field staff.

• Site visits to educate field staff on benefits, pension, new programs/initiatives, etc.

• Working with operations and HRBP on minor employee relations or disciplinary actions, while shadowing the HRBP for more complex investigations and disciplinary actions.

• Supporting the HRBP with parent company initiatives.

• Benefit and pension administration for hourly field employees.

• Supporting administrative tasks and audits of HR systems.

Qualifications

Experience/Education

• Minimum 2 years of experience working in Human Resources administration.

• Human Resources Management Degree, Bachelor of Commerce with an HR major, or any other degrees with an HR focus is required. Candidates that are working towards their degree (third or fourth year) with HR work experience will be considered.

• Must be willing to complete their degree and any other education/experience requirements in order to qualify for their CPHR designation in the future.

• Experience working in the roadbuilding or construction industry or similar industry is considered an asset.

Knowledge/Skills

• Strong multi-tasking and time management skills with ability to manage schedule both virtually and in office.

• Strong computer and data entry skills; ability to utilize virtual meeting software (i.e. Teams).

• Knowledge of or ability to learn new software including JDE, SAP, and HCSS apps.

• Knowledge of employment related legislation; Resourceful and able to research information.

• Ability to professionally communicate (verbal and written) with various levels of the organization.

• Strong customer service focus with ability to develop and maintain effective relationships.

• Strong ethics and a commitment to confidentiality.

• Committed to continuous learning and professional development.

Profile

• Work overtime or flexible hours as required to meet deadlines.

• Flexible to work from home or in office, as required by supervisor.

• Ability to drive to various job sites in Calgary region, as required.

• Minimal travel within Canada or USA, as required.

• Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.

• Lifting or moving up to 10lbs may be required.
