Canadian Tire Product Development Manager in Calgary, Alberta

What you’ll do

As the Product Development Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the product development of a category from Tech Pack distribution to delivery. Key responsibilities of the role include:

Project Management:

  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to deliver highest quality product that is aligned with design and brand direction, as outlined by Product Managers, Brand, and Merchants

  • Facilitates the product quality process with key stakeholders, such as Technical Design, Quality/Testing Teams, to ensure product meets high quality standards, legal standards, and child safety, and ensure the product is aligned to our product claims

  • Track and facilitate prototyping, fit sampling & sales sampling; identifies and addresses key issues and challenges in construction/manufacturing and plans accordingly to deliver proven and tested product

  • Manages seasonal production timelines and tracks the development schedule of all products to ensure a on time delivery, following the predetermined product development calendar

  • Ensures products maintain quality and accuracy to all design briefs, as handed over from Design and Product Managers

  • Maintains and ensures the continuous integrity of all product construction information (Tech Packs), Bill of Materials (BOM) and PLM system

  • Partners with our overseas teams on product costing, to ensure reasonable product pricing and accuracy to BOM; ensures product pricing is managed properly in PLM and meets IMU to achieve sales targets

  • Collaborates with our overseas teams on vendor sourcing strategies

  • Is adaptable, detail-oriented and solutions-driven in a fast-paced environment

  • The ability to travel to trade shows, major shopping markets and supplier meetings in North America and Europe and the Far East, if required.

What you bring

  • 3-5 of experience in apparel product development is desirable.

  • Post Secondary degree in or diploma in fashion/apparel with an understanding of offshore sourcing

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and respect for timelines with the ability to manage multiple products & seasonal development simultaneously.

  • Experience with product development software (PLM) and a strong understanding of product development life cycle and garment production processes are an asset

  • Understanding of fitting practices and grading standards within the fashion industry.

  • Ability to understand vendor capabilities and align them with product requirements; experience working with offshore sourcing and manufacturing is an asset

  • Centers the customer around decision making, and is proactive, responsive, and focused on discovering, anticipating, and exceeding the customer’s needs.
