POSITION OVERVIEW:

Startec Compression and Process is currently recruiting a Pressure Vessel Engineer to work at our Shepard Office location (9423 Shepard Rd SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 4R6) .  Reporting directly to the Mechanical Engineering Lead this position is responsible for providing detailed engineering services for the design and construction of Pressure Vessels and Shell and Tube Exchangers. This person will manage all technical and manufacturing issues on multiple projects. As well as assist with the direction, development and improvement of the Engineering Department.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):

ENGINEERING DESIGN (Weighting 40%) Pressure Vessel Design & Calculations

  • Performing pressure vessel design and calculations per applicable ASME Pressure Vessel Code and customer specifications using Compress.

  • Performs engineering mechanical design of vessels and shell and tube exchangers conforming to code and customer specifications.

    Quality Assurance

  • Development of bills of material and shop notes meeting the customer's requirements and the specific requirements of the order in compliance with accepted practices and applicable industry codes.

  • Assist in the preparation of pressure vessel standards.

    PROJECT COORDINATION (Weighting 40%) Project Oversight and Cross-Functional Collaboration Top of Form

  • Managing pressure vessel projects and interfacing with designers, project engineers, supply chain, quality control department, and production to ensure deliverables are met.

  • Works with the shop personnel and other departments to meet customer’s assembly and production requirements.

  • Provide regular updates to management of engineering status, drawings, and BOMs.

    Interdepartmental Collaboration

  • Interface with support personnel from areas such as Purchasing, Production Control, Quality Control, and Document Control, to ensure fabrication operations support activities are carried out to meet customer expectations and requirements.

    DOCUMENTATION & COMPLIANCE   (Weighting 20%) Coordination & Execution

  • Developing and reviewing pressure vessel and shell and tube exchangers fabrication drawings, machining drawings, and bills of material.

  • Assisting the supply chain with material quoting and ordering.

  • Preparing and submitting required registration documentation as necessary.

  • Initiation, review, and release of general arrangement, machining, fabrication, and assembly drawings to other departments and the customer.

    Safety & Compliance

  • Adherence to quality control manual.

  • Follow all company policies and safety procedures.

  • Other duties are assigned from time to time.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • P.Eng or Professional Licensee (APEGA)

  • 5+ Years of relevant experience

  • Extensive Codes and Standards Knowledge/skills of ASME B31.3, ASME -BPVC Section VIII Division 1, Appendix II, CSA B51:19, TEMA, NACE.

  • Knowledge of Compress and Compress Heat Exchangers

  • Knowledge and experience in Welding and Fabrication.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills.

  • Good communication skills, proven discipline to carry out assigned tasks with little supervision and proven “Team Player.”
