Job Description
Your Team
The Interior Design Purchasing Coordinator works directly with the interior design team supporting the completion of homeowner selections. This role liaises between estimating team members, trade partners, suppliers, and construction to ensure the accuracy of information for production. This involves issuing purchase orders to the trade partners, obtaining quotes, reconciling variances, maintaining accurate data, managing timelines, and supporting pricing adjustments as required.
Your Key Deliverables
Production:
Issue purchase orders in an accurate, timely manner to meet production
Support the maintenance of precise and comprehensive pricing for upgrade options
Maintain current, competitive cost and product information under changing market conditions
Collaborate with construction to resolve issues related to quantities, product, quality, and timing
External Relationships:
Develop and maintain relationships with specific vendors assigned to each project
Promote a professional business relationship with trades and suppliers
Maintain and foster open and knowledgeable communication with vendors
Represent the Brookfield Residential brand and culture in a positive manner at all times
Product Knowledge:
Attend show home walkthroughs for installation guidelines and familiarization of all product segments
Attend product knowledge sessions with our trade partners and interior designers
Walk customer homes for installation guidelines and note potential product/installation concerns
Must Haves
Demonstrated experience in a coordination or similar role, within the building industry or related field
A general understanding of various building types, traditional subcontractor work scopes, construction systems and methods, construction specifications, building codes and requirements, construction tendering practices, and contract types
Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and able to work well under pressure
Strong computer skills with prior experience in Microsoft Office
Strong analytical, verbal and written communications skills
Nice to Haves
1 - 3 years of residential construction experience, with strong construction process knowledge
Blueprint Reading, Estimating, Construction Fundamentals and Communication & Negotiation.
A Diploma in Building Technology, or related industry
NewStar experience
An interest in interior finishing, millwork and components
