POSITION : Senior Electrical Designer                                          STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Electrical Designer is responsible to plan and conduct independent work requiring judgement in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of electrical schematics, electrical distribution systems installation procedures and criteria.  Devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, while working under the direction of the Electrical Engineer.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Requires a broad knowledge of Electrical Drafting/Designing techniques including electrical symbols and placement in the Schematics & Diagrams, solid knowledge of principles and practices of related technical areas.

  • Requires a broad knowledge of the application of engineering to plant constructability as applied to construction methods and materials.

  • Performs assignments independently with instruction as to the general results expected and with guidance from Engineering Director and Electrical Engineer on unusual or complex problems. 

  •  Provides technical direction to other Drafters and Designers.

  • Design and coordinate work with Drafters, Designers, and Engineers.

  • Assume the lead Electrical Drafter role on assigned projects.

  • Plan, schedule, design electrical schematics and diagrams and coordinate with Engineers and Project Managers.

  • Review Job Submittal packages, customer furnished information to plan and design work; make recommendations.

      REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Associate’s degree in drafting/design and 2 years’ experience.

  • Proficient knowledge in computer-aided design (CAD) and SolidWorks software, programming languages, or other tools. 

  • Knowledge of the manufacturing industry and manufacturing processes. 

  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), the National Safety Code (NSC), Uniform Building Code (UBC), International Building Code (IBC), national fire codes, and other construction codes; fire/life/safety systems.   

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

  • Ability to work individually and in a team environment. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
