How will you impact our mission? Every position at Idaho Youth Ranch contributes to the success of our mission. As an Equine Specialist, you will be directly involved in nurturing the hope, healing, and resilience that is stated in our mission! You will be a force for positive change in a young persons life, and that of their family through the power of horses. You will create a safe, comfortable space for our clients and horses to engage in a therapeutic environment.

Must haves:

  • High School diploma, or equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Minimum of three (3) years working with equine/livestock
  • At least 100 hours of continuing education in the equine profession, and at least 40 hours in the last 2 years
  • Obtain when offered specialized training related to position, such as: CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention and EAGALA

Preferred:

  • Bachelors degree in in Human Services or Equine Science

Our Equine Specialists:

  • Participate in the EAGALA equine therapy and equine related activities for clients and guests.
  • Maintains familiarity with individual horses appropriateness for therapeutic use.
  • Documents classes and client activities
  • May have scheduled sessions in the late afternoon/evenings or on weekends, as scheduling is dependent on the needs and availability of the client

As a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit, the Idaho Youth Ranch is a qualifying employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PLSF) program. The PLSF offers student loan forgiveness on qualifying loans under specific conditions. Speak with your loan provider for more information.
