Philips Product Sourcing Engineer (m/w/d) in Böblingen, Germany

In this position, you will be responsible for creating strategic impact by engaging early in the Advanced Development & Product Development Lifecycle Maintenance (PDLM) projects.

You will create this impact by deploying innovative solutions from the suppliers for cost, quality & risk, support industrializing with suppliers and transferring the projects to Manufacturing & Sustaining.

You will closely collaborate with R&D (HW & SW), Product Industrialization, Supplier Quality and Marketing to identify clear specifications, requirements and work with suppliers to assure the most appropriate supplier/solution is selected and developed for the patient monitors designed and manufactured on site.

You are responsible for

  • Drive and execute sourcing plan for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects using Innovation to Market (I2M) Planner to ensure project targets are achieved for cost, quality, risk and optimized TCO.

  • Orchestrate and assemble the sourcing grid details for the NPI BoM in partnership with Procurement and bring to Sourcing Board for decision.

  • Conduct early supplier innovation events to bring suppliers earlier in the product innovation process.

  • Influence R&D and capture supplier innovation in the products to optimize the propositions and achieve the best value for Philips and its customers.

  • Assemble and engage suppliers on project BoM RFPs using Ariba e-RFQ.

  • Develop innovative solutions to simplify, standardize or platform components or assemblies across the HPM EHM portfolio.

  • Lead the Product Sourcing Swim Lane in PDLM. Ensure deliverables and targets are achieved for cost, quality & risk.

  • Develop ideas and opportunities for product cost reduction and quality improvement and enter in the savings funnel.

  • Lead product tear down or reverse engineering activities to gain market insights.

The Product Sourcing Eng (PSE) team works with suppliers located worldwide. This role is located in Böblingen, Germany. You will be working together with a highly motivated cross-functional project team, global procurement & commodity teams located worldwide. This role reports to HPM PSE Leader in Böblingen.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent with sound technical and engineering understanding. Preferable experience in Electronic Engineering.

  • Strategic sourcing experience, procurement, category/commodity management (min. 5 years) required.

  • Change leadership skills within a complex, global matrix organization.

  • Solid project management skills to drive strategic sourcing objectives.

  • Experience in a production environment in automotive or medical industry. Experience with medical devices, products, solutions is a plus.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong result orientation and business acumen.

  • Can-do attitude and be willing to work under high pressure to deliver impact.

  • Strong analytical and independent problem-solving skills.

  • Working independently under pressure with self-motivation and performance driven is a must.

  • Fluent in English and ability to communicate in German is also required.

  • Skills to use various IT Applications are a benefit (e.g. PowerBI, Windchill, BOMcheck, SAP, MS Office Applications).
