Location: 850 76th Street S.W. - Byron Center, Michigan 49315 Job Description: Position Summary: Manage all maintenance functions to include building and equipment maintenance to ensure a safe and efficient operation. Primary duties include personnel management and training programs, as well as work planning, supervision, and execution of all maintenance activities within the facility. Here's what you'll do: * Manage maintenance department of supervision and technicians who serve the facility * Drive the preventive maintenance programs of material handling equipment, powered industrial trucks, building and refrigeration systems * Responsible for staffing, training, performance management, career development of associates, and developing and monitoring departmental goals * Ensure the health, safety, cleanliness, and security of the work environment * Promote and reinforce safety awareness; report and/or address any issues that could lead to work-related injuries * Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with warehouse management, preferred vendors, and contractors * Operate within the confines of the maintenance expense budget and capital budget * Track equipment utilization; identify overall opportunities for cost savings, efficiencies, and continuous improvement * Communicate and/or implement approved/required changes to management and maintenance department * Maintain knowledge of current legal regulations, industry trends and best practices within facility maintenance operations and make recommendations to improve current processes to ensure regulatory compliance (i.e., OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA) * Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. Here's what you'll need: * Experience in electrical, industrial, or mechanical engineering and maintenance and repair operations * A minimum of five years facility maintenance experience managing maintenance technicians * The ability to work a flexible schedule and rotating on-call schedule during evening and weekend hours as needed to address issues like equipment breakdowns, systems failures, power outages, weather emergencies, etc. * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Strong planning, project management, organization, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills * Good leadership abilities with capability to work in a hands-on environment * Good analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, and business acumen skills * Ability to work across different business units and with vendors * Proficient in Microsoft Applications: Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Education: Associate or Bachelor's Degree in industrial maintenance, or electrical/mechanical engineering required or equivalent education/experience Physical Requirements: Must frequently sit, walk, and stand, use hands to handle, grasp, and twist objects, tools, or controls. Ability to regularly lift up to 45 lbs. unaided and lift up to 100 lbs. with assistance as needed. While performing the duties of this position, employees are subject to a warehouse environment and may frequently be exposed to changes in temperature and humidity ranging from below freezing to outdoor summer temperatures based on assignment.
