U.S. Coast Guard Administrative Support Clerk (OA) in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts

Summary This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Office of Base Operations, Base Cape Cod, Buzzards Bay, MA. Responsibilities The role of this position is to perform a wide variety of procedural and substantive administrative military personnel support associated with all aspects of military human resources pertaining to civilian and military at Base Cape Cod. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: * Taking reservations and issuing recreational gear to patrons. * Responding to a wide variety to telephonic, in-person and written inquiries. * Advising and providing information to patrons on purchases of tickets for events and theme parks. * Performing general administrative and personnel duties in support of MWR personnel. * Creating and tracking purchase requests for Appropriated funds and purchase orders. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship is required. Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. The position requires a valid state driver's license. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Qualifications GS-5: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and ability to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line work. Examples of specialized experience include: working knowledge of electrical equipment, lawn and garden equipment through relevant experience which enables the employee to carry out the daily operation and management of the facility competently and independently. Skilled in the application of the appropriate safety regulations and small engine repair to effectively maintain equipment. Must have the ability to solve problems that arise from maintaining and issuing rental gear to patrons. Knowledge of basic principles, techniques, philosophies, and methods of procedures used in administering and conducting a diverse rental program along with ticket sales and personnel support duties. OR at least one of the following if using education to qualify at this grade level: (A) Successfully completed (4 years above high school) education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite is creditable; OR (B) A combination of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in or related to the work of this position AND only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. Experience and education combinations are computed by first determining the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the total of qualifying education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at that grade level. In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants must possess a 40 words per minute typing speed. Education This position does not have a positive education requirement.
