Job Summary: The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all aspects of store operations, using GameStop's buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model, known as the Circle of Life. The Assistant Store Manager promotes a strong sales culture by creating complete solutions for every guest and ensuring a clean, organized, and easy-to-shop environment. This role supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager, fostering loyalty and repeat business through great guest service.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Guest Service:

  • Greet guests promptly, respond quickly and courteously to questions or concerns.
  • Assist guests with gaming needs, inform them of promotions, recommend additional items, and apply selling behaviors during transactions.
  • Thank every guest for shopping at GameStop, and ensure they are prioritized over tasks by circulating throughout the store.

Store Operations:

  • Ensure products are easy to see and buy by maintaining a clean, organized environment.
  • Process guest purchases and returns accurately using the POS system.
  • Respond to guest comments or questions, either in person or over the phone, following GameStop's greeting procedures.
  • Promote GameStop's unique guest benefits like the reservations program, trade-in program, and Pro Rewards guest loyalty program.

Team Supervision & Training:

  • Assist the Store Manager in setting service expectations for store associates and training them in company policies, procedures, and guest service practices.
  • Provide feedback on associate performance and address unsatisfactory performance as needed.
  • Ensure associates have completed onboarding, job training, and compliance training before opening or closing shifts on their own.
  • Schedule associates and supervise staffing levels to meet guest service needs.

Payroll & Administration:

  • Approve payroll, enter paid time off requests, and verify associates are paid accurately for time worked.
  • Maintain store records, keeping files neat and organized, and ensure manuals are up to date.

Store Environment:

  • Ensure all areas of the store, including restrooms, are clean, organized, and merchandised according to company guidelines.
  • Oversee that Omni-Channel orders are fulfilled and shipped daily.

Loss Prevention & Asset Protection:

  • Protect company assets through effective inventory control and loss prevention practices, including scam awareness and safety protocols.
  • Visually inspect associates' belongings at store closing and communicate any concerns to the Store Manager.
