Fairview Health Services - Burnsville Cancer Clinic, located in the Specialty Care Clinic Burnsville, MN is a department of University of Minnesota Medical Center. We are the largest cancer care provider in the central metro region.
We are looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to support our busy Oncology/Hematology Clinic in a Clinic Visit role by providing nursing care to oncology patients via triage, phone triage, assessments, planning, coordination and delivery of care in an ambulatory clinic environment.
1.0 FTE (80 hours per two week pay period), 8 hr shifts

Our team includes several MD’s, Medical Assistants, RN’s, Pharmacist and Social Worker.
This role may have hybrid scheduling with intermittent onsite and remote/virtual scheduling.

Responsibilities Job Description
Works with patients being seen for Clinic visits and through telephone /electronic communications, along with completing education and teaching with patients/families. RN will support patients and physicians in our fast paced cancer clinic with complex medical/surgical conditions such as hematology /oncology disorders including various types of cancer.
Recognizes and incorporates ethical principles within the delivery of care.
Uses EMR to update the medical records so must be comfortable using computers
Assists with assessment, rooming and follow-up to clinic visits
Coordinates/documents patient treatment calendar and plan.
Provides discharge instruction to patients and families
Manages telephone calls from patients with assistance from physicians.
Assists with communicating lab and test results
Occastional lab draws
Qualifications
Required
Valid RN MN License
BLS for healthcare providers
Current Oncology Certified Nurse Certification or ability to obtain OCN certification within 1-2 years of date of hire based on FTE appointment.
2-3 years of chemotherapy administration and other infusion experience with competencies in IV insertions such as central lines, PICC, Ports, Peripheral IV placement and infusion devices. Experience in administering antibiotics, monoclonal antibodies, chemotherapy, blood products and associated medications
Specific Adult or Pediatric experienced based on population served.
