Job Description
AECOM Burnaby is looking for an Electrical Site Resident Engineer.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Conduct field inspections for wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with design specifications and standards.
Lead and support engineering teams on field investigation and inspection tasks.
Prepare detailed inspection reports, identifying any deficiencies or deteriorations in electrical systems and infrastructure.
Develop and propose approaches to repair or reinforce systems and structures showing wear or damage.
Assist with specific engineering tasks as part of broader assignments and performs routine duties requiring knowledge of basic engineering principles under the direction of experienced engineers.
Gather and analyze engineering data using established procedures and methodologies.
Perform detailed or routine engineering calculations and tests related to field operations.
Identify and resolve discrepancies or inconsistencies in data and results during inspections or project execution.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering professional growth and technical proficiency.
Execute work within established budgets and schedules, ensuring quality and adherence to project timelines under moderate supervision.
Interfaces with design team and work closely with BIM modelling software.
Assist with and monitor RFIs, change orders.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Electrical Engineering.
At least four (4) years of relevant experience in the wastewater treatment plant industry, with a focus on electrical systems and infrastructure.
Candidates should be registered as an EIT (Engineer-in-Training) or P.Eng. , or demonstrate eligibility for registration with the appropriate provincial engineering association (e.g., EGBC in British Columbia).
Ability to work on-site to oversee the installation, inspection, and testing of electrical systems. Must demonstrate knowledge of electrical safety codes and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of seven (7) years of experience conducting field inspections for wastewater treatment plants, including troubleshooting and verifying compliance with design specifications.
Proficiency in electrical design software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, or similar).
Familiarity with Metro Vancouver’s wastewater infrastructure, operational standards, and regional permitting requirements.
Strong interpersonal skills for coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, including contractors, project managers, and municipal stakeholders.
Experience in diagnosing and resolving complex electrical issues in large-scale infrastructure projects.
Additional certifications such as CSA Z462 (Electrical Safety) or NFPA 70E are advantageous.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $80,000.00 - $120,000.00.
