Silfab Solar WA Solar Processing Engineer in Burlington, Washington

Silfab Solar WA, Inc. Burlington, Washington, is seeking a Solar Processing Engineer to: 1. Troubleshoot new or existing solar module production problems involving manufacturing equipment, systems, processes, design and materials. 2. Perform start-up, install and qualification testing activities for new machines and investigate and resolve solar module production and other operational issues. 3. Identify opportunities and implement changes to improve solar module production processes and reduce costs, using knowledge of processes, tooling, production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, and product design, materials and parts. 4. Apply continuous improvement methods, LEAN manufacturing to enhance quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness as it pertains to yield and uptime of solar stringers, printers and testers and conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and Safe to Operate (STO) tests on Asys printers and testers. 5. Provide technical expertise or support related to solar module manufacturing and perform periodic maintenance activities. 6. Troubleshoot equipment issue to minimize downtime and liaise with third party suppliers on purchasing or repair jobs when required. 7. Incorporate new manufacturing methods or processes to improve existing solar module production operations and establish new product equipment specification and test/commissioning protocol. 8. Review solar module product design for manufacturability and completeness and conducting internal and/or external ISO audits. 9. Determine root causes of failures and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, procedures, or process methods using statistical and other procedures. 10. Prepare reports summarizing information or trends related to manufacturing and equipment performance and evaluate, select, and order equipment that is most appropriate and cost effective to manufacture company products. 11. Define new machine specifications, and conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and commissioning on Module Stringer equipment on newly installed machines. 12. Performs material, equipment, and process qualifications for new machine and machine development and prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures. 13. Be the equipment automation expert responsible for last level of escalation for equipment sustainability. 14. Responsible for setting up new assembly and production lines, engineering processes and evaluate, selects, and orders equipment that is most appropriate and cost effective to manufacture company products. Requires 4 years of experience in the job offered or related. Alternatively, we will accept a bachelor's ( or foreign educ. equiv.) degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or closely related field. Experience must have included: a. Performing start-up, install and qualification testing activities for new machines. b. Performing material, equipment, and process qualifications for new machine and machine development c. Providing technical expertise to troubleshooting equipment issues to minimize downtime. d. Establishing new product equipment specifications and test/commissioning protocol. e. Setting up new assembly and production lines and engineering processes. f. Experience with internal or external ISO audits. g. Defining new machine specifications, and conducting Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and commissioning on Module Stringer equipment. h. Conducting Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and Safe to Operate tests (STO) in Asys Printers and testers. i. Applying continuous improvement methods and LEAN manufacturing methods to enhance quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of yield. j. Experience in 6-axis ABB, Kuka and Staubli robot programming
