Neuromuscular Neurologist and Research Position
Assistant/Associate/Professor, Clinical Scholar Pathway
Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine, University of Vermont
The Department of Neurological Sciences at the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine ( LCOM ) at the University of Vermont ( UVM ) and the University of Vermont Medical Center ( UVMMC ) are seeking to recruit a fellowship-trained neuromuscular neurologist and clinical researcher. The department’s neuromuscular division includes nationally recognized ALS , MDA , myasthenia gravis, and inflammatory neuropathy clinics. Our growing neuromuscular division seeks to expand expertise in clinical neuromuscular medicine, electrodiagnostic medicine, neuromuscular education, and clinical and translational research neuroscience.
Our goal is to add to the high level of clinical care, clinical research, and education the unit currently provides. Candidates with clinical and research expertise in ALS will complement our group well and strongly encouraged to apply. However, candidates with expertise in all aspects of neuromuscular medicine will be considered. The neuromuscular division is active in clinical and translational research. Clinical trials training and expertise or translational neuroscience laboratory investigative work will be considered and should be noted. Dedicated time and support for research can be negotiated for promising candidates. Our program values graduate and undergraduate medical education. We have an ACGME accredited neuromuscular fellowship. Our group regularly receives outstanding ratings from neurology residents, neuromuscular fellows, clinical neurophysiology fellows and medical students who train with our faculty. Incoming faculty members will have the opportunity to add their expertise to our strong clinical education programs.
This full-time position is associated with a faculty appointment in the Department of Neurological Sciences at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor based on previous experience and academic rank. Mentorship will be provided for junior faculty candidates.
The UVMMC is located in Burlington and serves as Vermont’s only academic medical center. Burlington is a small but vibrant community on the shores of Lake Champlain between the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The area offers year-round recreational opportunities, safe communities, and excellent schools, while Burlington itself is frequently cited as among the most livable cities in the United States.
UVM is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching, and/or service. Applicants are requested to include in their cover letter information about how they will further this goal.
UVM is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other category legally protected by federal or state law. The University encourages applications from all individuals who will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the institution. The application receipt and review process will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Applications accepted until position filled.
