HVP Senior Mechanic (S5024PO)
The Physical Plant Department at the University of Vermont is seeking an individual for a full-time benefits eligible position as a HVP Senior Mechanic. This position will:
- Perform highly skilled inspections, service, repairs, and maintenance of 30-600 Horsepower boilers.
- Provide dig safe activities to main utility lines.
- Assist in managing boiler and utility renovation projects and act as a liaison with contractors, engineers andUVMproject team.
- Obtain permits from State and local jurisdictions for projects and assist authorities having jurisdiction with inspections as well as insurance representatives on all A.S.M.E. pressure vessels within area of operation.
- Provide highly skilled heating and plumbing system repairs, service, and preventative maintenance.
- Functional supervision of other employees as well as contractors.
- Assist contractors with maintaining system levels for the boiler system chemical treatment program.
- Provide emergency service on high-pressure steam systems.
High School Diploma; Vermont Master Plumbers License; 5 years of experience with license in plumbing/ heating system maintenance/repair and commercial boilers; Demonstrated proficiency in two or more skilled trades (such as electrical,HVAC, controls and/or chemical treatment); Vermont Type S A-1 Electrical License; Vermont Natural Gas Certification; Vermont Fuel Oil Burning Installer (NORASilver); Backflow Prevention Certification or ability to obtain within six months. Experience using computers and mobile technology. Valid drivers license and driver check required. Must be comfortable in confined spaces and at heights. Specific physical requirements may apply based on job functions. Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing specific job tasks. Initial employment contingent upon successful completion of background check and physical screening.
