INTERNAL SEARCH FOR THE POSITION OF

ASSOCIATE DEAN FOR STUDENT SUCCESS

ASSOCIATE DEAN FOR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS AND INNOVATION

Associate Deans in the Graduate College are members of the Dean’s Executive Team and have responsibility, as delegated by the Dean, for matters related to academic and student affairs and for leading DEI efforts in the Graduate College.

This internal search for two Associate Deans is open to all tenured members of the Graduate Faculty at the University of Vermont at the rank of associate or full professor.

Candidates with appropriate academic leadership experience at the department, college and/or university levels and those with leadership experience in graduate education will receive the strongest consideration.

This is an outstanding opportunity for collaborative leaders to join the Graduate College at a time of great momentum as we implement a strategic plan to grow the breadth, scale, and impact of inclusive, student-centric, innovative graduate education at UVM . As a hub and advocate for UVM’s graduate and postdoctoral communities, the Graduate College offers thought leadership, central expertise, and collaborative services aligned with the needs of graduate students, faculty, and programs.

Associate Deanships are envisioned as half-time, 12-month positions. While a multi-year term is expected, Associate Deans are reviewed and reappointed annually by the Dean of the Graduate College.

Interested candidates should submit application materials by September 20, 2024, by visiting www.uvmjobs.com and searching for position #00026410. Candidates are requested to submit (1) a letter of interest (not to exceed 3 pages) summarizing their qualifications and vision for the role; we welcome expressions of preference for either the “Student Success” or “Academic Affairs and Innovation” portfolios, understanding that both roles will collaborate closely on holistic approaches to graduate education and training; (2) a current CV. Applications will be reviewed by an advisory committee appointed by the Dean of the Graduate College and finalists will be interviewed by the Dean.

Please reach out directly to Dean Holger Hoock with any questions about this opportunity (hhoock@uvm.edu).

Appointments are expected to become effective at the earliest possible point in fall term 2024, with the possibility for a gradual scaling up of effort depending on candidates’ current responsibilities. Appointments are expected to be effective at half-time effort by no later than January 6, 2025.
