Alamance Community College Automotive Instructor - Workforce Development in Burlington, North Carolina

Description OPEN UNTIL FILLED * Provide Effective instruction to students in the classroom by preparing for each learning experience, providing supplemental materials to enhance lessons, and using effective evaluation methods to evaluate student performance in continuing education classes. * Maintain teaching and work environment by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards to provide a safe work environment. * Stay current in chosen field and teaching methodology by meeting or exceeding all institutional professional development guidelines, participating in professional development workshops and seminars, and participating in professional organizations and reading journals in the teaching and fields of Automotive diagnosis and repair. * Maintain accurate records such as attendance, grades, information for accreditation, and other important data and submit reports according to college policies. Example of Duties * Create and carry out lesson plans to ensure industry relevant content in courses. * Assess student learning outcomes * Assist the Department head in maintaining an accurate inventory f program supplies * Teach according to department lesson plans and maintain proper record keeping 1. Classes may include: Engine repair; Manual and Automatic Transmission repair; Drivability diagnosis and repair; Basic and advanced Electrical diagnosis and repair; Steering and alignment repair and service among other. * Successful candidate must have the ability to operate diagnostic scanners and metering equipment associated with the automotive department * Maintenance of classroom and laboratory equipment and training areas Typical Qualifications REQUIRED: * Minimum of 5 years work experience in Automotive related job such as: 1. Dealership Technician 2. Community College Instructor 3. NC Safety and OBD inspector Instructor Certification * Applicants are expected to demonstrate skills needed to communicate Automotive repair and diagnosis knowledge * Current NC driver’s license * Ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively in educational/ training environments * Computer literate PREFERRED: * Associates Degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution along with a Master ASE certification * 5 year of community college teaching experience * Industry recognized Credentials (ex. ASE Master Certification with “L1” (Advanced Electrical) Certification, TIA – Tire Industry Association Certification, MLR – Maintenance Light Repair Certification, etc. * Preference will be given to candidates that are Bilingual in Spanish Supplemental Information Supplemental information An ACC on-line application MUST be fully completed for consideration, which includes a required letter of interest and transcript attachments.
