Silgan Containers Corporation Part-time Accounting Clerk in BURLINGTON, Iowa

Are you looking for part-time employment? Silgan Containers is looking for an Accounting Clerk to work at our state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Burlington, IA. Come work for the nation's leading manufacturer of metal food containers. This position works closely with the Controller and the Accounting Clerk to assist with month end closing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and is the back-up for payroll processing.

  • Input production and usage into ERP system from Manufacturing Order (MO) paperwork, audit MO paperwork for accuracy and reasonableness, explain variances from key metrics, and train production personnel on correct paperwork procedures.

  • Enter and audit inventory adjustments from cycle counts and manage the process.

  • Perform clerical accounting procedures requiring familiarity with and experience in accounting office practices as well as knowledge of a variety of accounting classifications.

  • Interact with various departments to gather accounting data and assist in problem resolution.

  • Process a variety of tasks to include accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, special projects, and other administrative tasks in a small accounting department.

  • Perform day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files, filing, scanning documents, copying and processing paperwork.

  • Process daily customer invoices.

  • Invoice product shipped and reconcile multiple outside warehouse inventories.

Job Requirements:

  • Prefer Associates Degree or equivalent experience.

  • Experience using integrated ERP software (e.g. Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards).

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office with extensive experience in Excel.

  • Must be detail-oriented and have strong time-management skills.

  • Technical expertise in production accounting, inventory control and cost analysis.
