Position Overview

The Vice President of Safety & Quality will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality within our Engineering and Construction company operating in the Fiber Telecom space. This leadership position demands a comprehensive understanding of safety regulations, quality control measures, and effective training methodologies to uphold our commitment to excellence in every aspect of our operations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee safety and quality initiatives across the organization.

  • Develop and implement robust safety and quality policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA and DOT standards.

  • Collaborate closely with operational leaders to identify and mitigate safety and quality risks, ensuring alignment with company objectives and regulatory requirements.

  • Conduct thorough assessments of potential risks and hazards and devise strategic plans for immediate and long-term risk management, scalable over a five-year growth trajectory.

  • Oversee the implementation of a comprehensive safety software program to track incidents, training progress, and compliance, fostering a data-driven approach to safety management.

  • Establish and execute a 12-month safety initiative focusing on various themes such as audits, awareness campaigns, and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Develop and streamline processes for handling first aid incidents, with the aim of reducing emergency room visits and workers' compensation claims.

  • Lead the training and onboarding initiatives for new team members, anticipating and accommodating a doubling of staff within the next year.

  • Ensure company-wide compliance with safety standards and regulations, conducting regular audits and inspections to maintain a culture of safety excellence.

  • Thorough understanding of all Outside Plant Fiber construction methodologies to include but not limited to; Aerial, Horizontal Directional Drilling, Plowing, Splicing, etc.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Extensive experience in safety management within the telecommunications or wireless industries.

  • Current OSHA 500 certificate and proficiency in OSHA 10/30 training.

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel up to 40% of the time.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Proficiency in utilizing software programs for safety tracking and incident management, such as AIC.

  • Demonstrated expertise in safety management within the telecommunications and wireless industries, with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.

  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, NATE standards, and other pertinent safety guidelines.

  • Proven track record of conducting field audits, accident investigations, and root cause analyses.

  • Ability to adapt to dynamic work environments and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • May experience long hours of standing and moving

  • Must be able to wear proper safety apparel, which includes hard hats where required, DOT reflective work vest, and proper footwear (boots)

  • Ability to perform tasks that require standing, kneeling, squatting, bending, sitting, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, driving, and walking

  • Ability to work outside in the elements and endure extreme weather conditions

  • Ability to drive for extended periods of time

  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable and sustained use of your arms, legs, and moving your entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, sitting standing, and handling materials up to 75lbs
