Position Summary: The Vice President of Human Resources and Diversity Equity and Inclusion is a strategic thinker that contributes to the creation of a positive and inclusive employee experience for every employee at Tapestry. The position is responsible for the oversight and leadership of all strategic and operational aspects of the human resources (HR) function, including the diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. The position serves as a strategic advisor and partner to the Compass Leadership team while simultaneously ensuring that every employee has a voice and is supported with people focused practices that create a true sense of belonging for every employee. The position is responsible to develop and execute a comprehensive HR strategy that includes talent acquisition, retention, performance management, total rewards, diversity, equity and inclusion, employee voice and recognition, and leadership development, ensuring alignment with Tapestry's mission, vision and strategic plan.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

HR & DEI Strategy

  • Collaborate with academic and functional leaders to optimize recruiting and retention efforts in alignment with strategic objectives.

  • Build a comprehensive diversity and inclusion strategy and incorporate diversity and inclusion as a capability throughout leadership and staff, in alignment with the Equity Action Plan.

  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior management, providing insights and recommendations on organizational and leadership issues.

  • Evaluate and enhance HR processes and technology solutions to improve service quality and efficiency.

  • Participate on the Compass Leadership Team, focusing on maximizing the effectiveness of our people resources and aligning them with overall goals.

  • Advise Executive Director and senior leadership on organizational design, change management, and workforce alignment strategies.

  • Revise HR and DEI policies, procedures and practices for compliance and operational effectiveness, ensuring effective communication to employees and leadership on an ongoing basis.

Employee and Leadership Relations

  • Develop inclusive programs and practices to ensure that the employee voice is heard and to ensure effective feedback to and from employees on relevant workplace topics.

  • Develop and implement employee engagement programs and processes that support the school's strategic objectives and foster a culture of belonging, understanding, and accountability.

  • Support the development of a relevant ongoing leadership development curriculum and ongoing leadership coaching on HR, DEI and leadership skills and practices.

  • Oversee results-driven performance management tools and processes that follow TCS values and core competencies and ensure equity and accountability.

  • Ensure all employee and leadership concerns are managed with empathy, equality, and accountability.

  • Partner with leadership on school-wide communication strategies to ensure that employees and managers have receive the information they need in a timely and effective manner.

  • Conduct surveys and listening sessions to evaluate effectiveness of employee and leader relations, employee communications and feedback mechanisms.

  • Utilize collaborative problem-solving HR best practices to resolve workplace conflicts and concerns.

  • Ensure the creation and utilization of effective performance management, performance improvement and corrective action practices.

Talent Acquisition and Development

  • Oversee talent acquisition and retention strategies and plans, including directing the design and implementation of a comprehensive recruitment and retention strategy focused on the TCS value proposition, candidate experience, and diversity and inclusion strategies and measurements.

  • Evaluate exit interview and survey data to ensure recruiting and rewards strategies are aligned with goals and value proposition of TCS.

  • Lead and supervise the talent recruitment processes to attract mission-driven, qualified, and diverse candidates.

  • Implement and monitor systems to track progress toward hiring goals that can be shared with Compass Leadership Team and other school leaders.

  • Lead candidate onboarding and engagement strategies to support new hires from their interview through onboarding and orientation.

  • Partner with leaders throughout the organization to ensure selection processes are consistent, aligned to core values, rigorous, and competency based. Ensure hiring managers are fully prepared to execute interview tasks and utilize hiring rubrics.

  • Collaborate with Compass Leadership to evaluate the employee experience and identify strategies to continually improve on the employee value proposition.

  • Lead partnerships with external organizations that support Tapestry's talent pipelines and form new partnerships to proactively solve for emerging talent needs.

  • Develop and maintain employee professional growth and development plans, collaborating with management and leadership to identify talents and career goals of TCS employees and support their career journeys.

Total Rewards

  • Lead all aspects of total rewards, including compensation, benefits, retirement plans, leaves of absence, paid time off, employee rewards and recognition and professional growth and development.

  • Oversee compensation programs to ensure market competitiveness and alignment with performance management philosophy.

  • Lead the development of strategic benefit programs to enhance employee well-being and engagement while managing costs effectively.

  • Ensure consistent and compliant application of leave of absence and paid time off programs and policies, ensuring effective communication and support to employees.

  • Evaluate compensation and benefits programs for equity and make recommendations for program modifications to ensure equity and inclusion in compensation and benefit programs.

Other Duties

  • Oversee compliance with HR laws, rules and regulations, including required policies and procedures, postings, workplace training and timely completion of all HR compliance reporting.

  • Leads and supervises HR and DEI staff.

  • Maintains ongoing knowledge of HR and DEI trends and best practices.

  • Other duties as necessary or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required.

  • At least 7 years of HR leadership experience required.

  • DEI experience preferred.

  • HR certifications preferred.
