Overview:

The Senior Risk Analyst will support, and report, to the Segment Risk Manager responsible for Regulatory Reporting Risk Oversight (“RRRO”) segment. The RRRO team is responsible for providing oversight, effective challenge, and governance over FED and FDIC Regulatory Reporting including Resolution Planning. The role’s primary responsibility is to develop and maintain a comprehensive oversight program for the Bank’s Resolution Plan. Interacting with the Resolution Planning office, Financial Data Governance, and line of business participants to ensure compliance with the requirements and maintenance of a successful and vibrant program.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Interact directly with Resolution planning team members to conduct effective challenge of process assessments (PA) and periodic challenge reviews (CR).

• Establish findings as a result of PAs and CRs when regulatory or best-practice gaps exist, as uncovered through the PA and CR frameworks.

• Communicate findings with Resolution planning and RRRO team members.

• Drive process improvement initiatives and work with others within and external to RRRO to implement changes to methodology and enhance/streamline processes to improve efficiency and sustainability.

• Provide leadership, guidance and direction to junior staff regarding all aspects of data analysis, risk reporting, risk identification, risk policies and governance and regulatory compliance.

• Maintain and develop in others knowledge on standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the risk analytics field.

• Coordinate with Quantitative analyst to build new financial challenger-type models or utilize existing Finance models to increase efficacy of oversight activities.

• Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.

• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Scope of Responsibilities:

The Senior Risk Analyst must be adept at working across all levels of the organization from junior staff to the Chief Risk Officer or other senior/executive members of management primarily in Risk and Finance. This is a high profile position where the incumbent must be a comfortable working with minimal/moderate oversight under tight deadlines.

Education and Experience Required:

MBA with outstanding academic credentials, minimum two years work experience or BA/CPA/CFA with three-plus years experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Superior interpersonal and leadership talent. Advanced analytical abilities.

Education and Experience Preferred:

MBA from top tier school with a focus in a quantitative discipline with outstanding academic credentials. Minimum two years significant work experience, preferably in banking. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Superior interpersonal and leadership talent. Advanced analytical abilities.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $97,869.52 - $163,115.87 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
