Summary: Performs more complex medical record audit functions requiring higher-level decision making and analysis; assists with Health Information Management (HIM) applications testing; assists with implementation of new or upgraded HIM systems; assists HIM Management Team with auditing new clinical documentation initiatives for the organization. Performs audits to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the medical record; assists with monitoring compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, HIPAA requirements and Roswell Park policies related to documentation processing and document retention as well as New York State regulations related to (HIM); assists with major initiatives involving the HIM Department; assists in implementation of record retention policy.

Salary range for this position is $49,396 - $63,169 annually which includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications:Required Education and Experience

1. Bachelor's degree in a Health Information Management (HIM) program; or
2. Associate's degree in a Health Information Management (HIM) program and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time RPCI Health Information Management experience with knowledge of medical terminology; or
3. Associate's degree in a health-related field and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time RPCI Health Information Management experience with knowledge of medical terminology; or
4. Associate's degree in a health-related field and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time Health Information experience with knowledge of medical terminology; or
5. Associate's degree and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time Health Information experience with knowledge of medical terminology; or
6. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of five (5) years of full-time RPCI Clinical/Administrative health care experience; or
7. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of six (6) years of full-time clinical or administrative health care experience.

NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have the following skills/experiences:

  • Associates Degree
  • HIM Experience
  • Knowledge of HIPAA Standards
  • EHR experience
  • Experience extracting specified data from medical record
  • Experience processing Insurance/HEDIS requests
  • Experience with auditing/maintaining EHR accuracy
