Unifrax Process Development Engineer in Buffalo, New York

Job Requirements

Responsibilities: (List essential responsibilities.)

  • The incumbent is expected to perform his/her duties living the Alkegen Values

  • Practice and Promote a Safe Working Environment in all day to day activities

  • Develops, coordinates, directs, and participates in assigned process and product development projects.

  • Develops and/or defines innovative process solutions to complex problems to achieve key technology objectives.

  • Designs and conducts experiments to prove feasibility of new processes and new product concepts; by applying sound engineering skills and methodology to evaluate all viable technical solutions

  • Capable of defining and/or designing and building Laboratory Bench Top, Pilot, and Production Test Equipment to support new Product/Process Development

  • Uses engineering skills to develop Process Flow Diagrams, Energy Balances, Mass Balances, P&ID’s, FMEA’s, General Arrangement Drawings, Design Basis, and other process definition documents as required.

  • Designs and/or manages fabrication of prototype/production equipment by means of CAD modeling and generating Engineering Drawings/Specifications

  • Leads cross-functional teams, utilizing strong communication techniques

  • Develops product cost models based on Process definition.

  • Develops and manages project budgets; both R&D and small Capital projects

  • Identifies and manages external vendors and partners to run technical work as an extension of internal teams

  • Typically handles up to the three projects at a time depending on complexity.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Minimum 5 Years of Industrial experience working with manufacturing processes, or scaling up R&D projects into Production Processes or with Equipment/Machine Design

  • Experience with process improvements and cost reduction arising from innovative step-change developments.

  • Experience with the development and implementation of new products.

  • Demonstrate strong fundamental engineering skills

  • Strong attention to detail with demonstrated critical thinking, analytical, and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD Design and producing 2D Engineering Drawings

  • Basic understanding of electrical schematics/circuitry; such as wiring of electrical motors, variable frequency drives and general low voltage control system

  • Proficient Troubleshooting skills, specifically in the field of mechanical and electromechanical systems (e.g. drive mechanisms, sensors, etc.)

  • Willingness and ability to utilize mechanical tools to build/repair/modify laboratory or industrial equipment.

  • Presentation skills sufficient to communicate technical concepts and justify investments.

  • Exceptional communication skills to lead cross-functional teams and communicate to all levels within the organization.

  • Up to 25% travel required to manufacturing facilities, external partners and industry events
