General Physicians PC Patient Account Management Specialist in Buffalo, New York

Status: Full-time, Monday-Friday

Who we are:

General Physician, PC (GPPC) is a captive PC affiliated with both Kaleida Health and the Erie County Medical Center. We are a multispecialty group practice comprising of over 300+ providers in 11 s pecialties, serving WNY. We offer both acute medicine (hospitals) and ambulatory services and provide employment and corporate services to the Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) and Lake Erie Medical Services (LEMS) through a managed service organization agreement.

Who you are:

The ideal candidate will possess a unique combination of interpersonal and technical skills. They will be able to interact with patients in a friendly and empathetic manner, while also efficiently managing payment collection and explaining plan benefits. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, are a must , as is the ability to actively listen and respond to patients' needs. They must be able to patiently train different learning styles on processes and system use. Additionally, the right fit should be a creative problem-solver who can think outside the box and adapt to new challenges as they arise.

Role Summary:

This position ensures the timely management of patient accounts from a financial perspective, and the collection of patient receipts for both pre- and post-services. Backup for training and educating new and existing registration staff ( i.e. group and individual session). Support other billing initiatives as needed.

What you will be doing:

Patient facing:

  • Deliver exemplary customer service to provide a positive patient experience across the organization.

  • Work with patients directly, ensur ing payment for services.

  • Assist patients in understanding their individual insurance plans and financial obligations.

  • Contact patients concerning financial non-compliance, facilitating payment and/or coordinating payment arrangements.

  • Co ordinate patient discharges.

    Behind the scenes:

  • Develop and follow workflows to facilitate pre- and post-service collections across all service lines.

  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

    Training:

  • Assist with group and individual training materials for registration staff as needed .

  • Act as a back-up to c oordinate and instruct both group and individual registration training sessions . Provide direct on-site training.
