We are actively seeking a meticulous and visionary Mechanical Engineer to serve as part of a growing internal design team. Join us in shaping the future of our esteemed institution while honing your project management skills and contributing to the dynamic growth of the University Facilities.Responsibilities•Collaboration with external design consultants hired to prepare contract documents from concept to closeout. •Preparation of contract documents including drawings and specifications, support of ongoing project needs throughout construction, and active participation in the occupation of finished spaces and related systems.•Serve as a peer reviewer of mechanical engineering scope in ongoing design reviews for both internally and externally designed projects.•Interface with outside agencies including SUCF, SUNY, OCF, NYS, Division of Standards and Codes, National Grid, National Fuel, NYPA, NYSERDA and relevant vendors to coordinate construction.•Present to clients and administrators the technical aspects of a design. The candidate will have to prepare a presentation at the appropriate technical level.•Provide emergency engineering technical support to Facilities Operation as issues arise. Provide systems analysis and project solutions within predetermined budgets and schedules, educating clients on project processes.•Serve as a subject matter expert in mechanical engineering for the university to support ongoing operations, sustainability efforts, and educational needs.•Serve as a peer reviewer of mechanical engineering scope in ongoing design reviews for both internally and externally designed projects.•Supervise staff, review and manage project documentation.•Follow State, SUNY, and University policies and procedures.•Participate in committees and groups as needed for expertise, uphold environmentally conscious practices, and understand the total-cost-ownership approach to project decision-making and facilities stewardship.•Integrate a total cost of ownership (TOC) approach to project management from start to finish.•Actively participate in the documentation and update of design standards for the University.•Collaborate with the Office of Sustainability to electrify the campus and continuously improve energy efficiency.Requirements•New York State registration as a professional engineer.•Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree with 3 years of experience in a design role.•An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the degree.•Excellent technical, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.•Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of staff at all levels of an organization.Preferred Qualifications•Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field with 7 years of experience.•Experience in higher education renovation and construction projects of similar size and scope desired including laboratory, and/or SUCF capital improvement projects.Salary Range•$86K- $106KJK Executive Strategies is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
