Brief Job Description

The Engineering Technology Department at SUNY Buffalo State University seeks candidates for a non-tenure track position responsible for teaching assignments in the ETAC / ABET – accredited Mechanical Engineering Technology ( MET ) and Electrical Engineering Technology programs, and in the ATMAE -accredited Industrial Technology (IT) program. Applicants are expected to provide strong evidence of engineering, industrial or related professional experience where they have demonstrated substantial engineering responsibility or achievement. Applicants are expected to teach a full range of undergraduate and graduate courses in the department (e.g.: fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, lean six-sigma, logistics, quality, environmental sustainability, and advanced manufacturing) and to provide mentoring and encouragement to a diverse population of students. Of particular interest are candidates who can contribute, through their teaching, research and service, to the advancement of equity and diversity in student enrollment.

Required Qualifications

· Earned master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or, related STEM fields/workforce development in STEM areas.

· Professional certification(s) in relevant fields of practice (e.g: Lean Six-Sigma).

· Relevant engineering experience (demonstrated record of increasing responsibilities and accomplishment in the management of scientific or engineering work, which can include engineering design accomplishments and engineering management responsibilities, such as: supervision of high technology work teams, large budget project management, and quality assurance programs).

· Evidence of post-secondary teaching or instructional training experience in the mechanical and/or industrial engineering fields (such as teaching responsibility as full and/or part-time instructor of record, course/workshop development, design of laboratory experiments, and/or development of new curricula and/or successful curriculum modifications).

Preferred Qualifications

· Earned doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering or, related STEM fields/workforce development in STEM areas

· Professional Engineering (PE) licensure.

· Prior experience in ETAC - ABET accreditation activities and procedures.

· Active membership in relevant professional societies.

· Publication of applied engineering or scientific papers, books, or inventions.

· Recognized contributions to the welfare of the scientific or engineering profession.

· Familiarity with online course development and teaching.
