Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you'll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.
As an Associate Engineer, you will participate in the development, implementation and management of new technologies or automation of existing technologies. This will include modeling, planning, and overseeing new projects related to our electrical system.
This is a hybrid role with the team being open to a work location of Syracuse, NY, Buffalo, NY or Albany, NY.
In this position, you will work directly with a senior engineer to:
- Engage appropriately as a with specified stakeholders, government agencies, consenting authorities, and media within the development phases of a project.
- Input to the development of the engineering perspective of new business concepts.
- Complete the definition of technical specifications in relation to a range of technologies.
- Determine the options to be considered for the project at initiation to satisfy the need case for investment.
- Ensure that a robust basis of design is produced for each scheme which documents the reasons for the investment, the options considered, costs and program.
- Visit different National Grid worksites to see the projects you are working on.
- Bachelor or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited institution
- Graduated between May 2024 and June 2025
- Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 2, 2025 or July 7, 2025
- Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy
- Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)

Salary Range
Albany, NY $83,300 - $98,000 a year
Buffalo, NY $83,300 - $98,000 a year
Syracuse, NY $83,300 - $98,000 a year
Please note US Colleagues must reside within our existing footprint, which includes Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island and Vermont. As a National Grid employee, you should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to your assigned primary office.
