Position Summary:
The Graduate School of Education (https://ed.buffalo.edu/) is seeking a creative and highly motivated professional to help lead and translate the work of our faculty, staff, students and alumni and who will play an integral role in sharing our news and telling our inspiring stories across traditional and developing channels. The Assistant Director of Communications and Web will be a vital team member in a highly collaborative environment to support and elevate the global reputation of the school, engage strategic audiences and foster connections and affinity with our current student body, alumni, faculty, staff and other external communities. Under supervision of the Assistant Dean for Marketing and Director of Communications, the Assistant Director of Communications and Web will work to increase the public profile of the Graduate School of Education with key target audiences through the conception, production and deployment of communications collateral across all digital and traditional platforms. Specifically, this role will be charged with maximizing the school’s digital footprint through storytelling, email communication curation, event and program marketing, data management and website optimization.
Key areas of responsibility of include:
The Assistant Director will lead key communications efforts including weekly e-news outreach, daily web production and maintenance and promoting strategic school-wide events. The incumbent will disseminate stories on GSE’s initiatives and research and will also play a key role in conceptualizing and supervising visual projects including but not limited to graphic design, videography and photography.
The Assistant Director will implement branding/marketing strategies for the Graduate School of Education. This includes, but is not limited to, creation and management of web content, social media content contributions, digital communications, digital assets including basic videos/graphics, and general support of targeted admissions marketing.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or related field.
Two years of experience in communications/marketing
Strong project management skills with excellent attention to detail.
Experience working with/in a web content management system.
Strong writing and editing skills, including experience writing across a range of platforms (email communications, web copy, social media, print, press releases).
Experience with Microsoft software products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and design software such as Adobe Creative Suite or comparable programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree preferred
Comprehensive experience overseeing website development along with web content management systems.
Familiarity with UB CMS /Adobe Experience Manager
Experience using basic video production and editing software.
Past experience preferably in higher education, non-profit, or related field.
Accustomed to working in a fast paced, deadline driven office.
