About The Role:
As a Chemistry Laboratory Technician, you will support the Analytical Chemistry Team by preparing samples and reagents for chemical analysis by LC and GC-MS. The Analytical Chemistry Team operates within the context of an Agricultural Research Center in Buellton, CA. You will work in a highly coordinated environment to feed an analytical pipeline with daily requirements for samples to keep the process running smoothly and efficiently. You will have daily requirements for sample delivery, but also work independently to proactively identify additional needs to support the Analytical Chemistry Team. This may include ordering and stocking reagents and materials for the laboratory.
What You'll Do
Prepare analytical samples from Cannabis plant biomass by homogenization and extraction with organic solvents.
Prepare analytical samples from Cannabis concentrates by representative sampling, weighing, and dissolution in solvents.
Coordinate samples to be prepared each day with Analytical Chemistry Team members to ensure a smooth flow of samples ready for instrumental analysis.
Maintain spreadsheets of samples with relevant information about their source and status in the Analytical Chemistry pipeline
Maintain and track inventory of key reagents, solvents, and supplies to proactively order and maintain sufficient stocks of materials to avoid disruption of operations.
Perform all other duties as assigned or inherent to the position.
Prioritize work in a fast-paced environment to limit downtime and keep operations moving.
What You'll Need to Have
Some college education including a minimum of General Chemistry required. At least one semester of Organic Chemistry highly desired.
Experience in several laboratory-based courses required. Some work experience in a laboratory setting highly desired.
Experience with basic weighing, measuring, sampling, volumetric analytical methods.
Experience with basic laboratory equipment, analytical balances, volumetric pipets Familiarity with basic analytical instrumentation highly desired.
Strong analytical skills. Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy.
Experience with Microsoft Office and Google’s G suite. Expertise with MS Excel highly desired.
Good laboratory skills and practices are a must. Be able to work safely handling potentially hazardous materials and solvents.
Demonstrate motivation and a good work ethic under minimal supervision.
Ability to work within the surroundings of a research-oriented Cannabis farm where aromas from developing plants are frequent.
Ensure that safety is the first priority in everything you do.

Must be 21 years of age (or older) at the time of hire.
Proficiency of the English language, verbal, and written format.
