We’re looking for an experienced and self-motivated engineer to work on customer premises in the Budapest, Hungary area as our Database Specialist. Join the team of highly skilled technical experts who build and maintain our clients’ technical landscapes through tailored support services.

What you will do

Become our customers’ trusted technical advisor and develop a deep knowledge of their systems and needs. You’ll support the operation of infrastructure and database onsite and in cloud, delivering services that drive customer success and innovation.

• Improve the stability, availability, and performance of critical production databases

• Provide operational support and engage in escalations for essential business systems.

• Deliver assistance with software installation, configuration, health assessments, and performance reviews

• Analyze new and complex issues, performing thorough root cause investigations.

• Offer problem-solving expertise while considering customer constraints and risk management

• Deliver architecture advisory services, including reviews and conceptual support.

• Conduct research and promptly address technical inquiries, ensuring effective communication at various organizational levels

• Educate customers on product features, best practices, upgrades and patches

Required experience

• Hands-on experience with the Oracle Engineered Systems : Exadata Platform Infrastructure , Exadata Engineered Systems, Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Enterprise Manager Grid Control is essential. ODA, ZDLRA, ZFS Storage-Pool, OVM experience is preferred.

• Grid Infrastructure: RAC, ASM

• Hands-on experience in Oracle Database performance tuning and troubleshooting

• Hands-on experience in HA installations, Data Guard knowledge and experience is preferred.

• Enterprise Manager (OEM), Grid Control

• Hand-on experience in SQL optimization, AWR, ASH, traces

• Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) experience will be an advantage

• The following additional products and technologies will be an advantage: Goldengate, Security Products, Java, xml, sql, shell scripting

Personal Competencies

• Proven experience in installing, configuring, administering Oracle Exadata Platform, preferably gained in a production environment

• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills

• Self-motivated and resourceful

• Strong verbal and writing communication skills in English and Hungarian

• Ability to spot proactive services to the benefit of customer

• Ability to work as a team-player as well on own initiative

• Ability to work under pressure in escalated situations

• Ability to have effective communication with the appropriate levels when dealing with complex situations

• Ability to take ownership of (escalated) problems

• Ability to travel on regular basis

• Good presentation skills

• Oracle Certified Associate and/or Professional qualification will be an advantage

Professional Competencies

• University Degree or comparable education/professional experience

• Perennial work experience in Support, Consulting, IT Operations or Administration would be ideal

• Excellent experience as Systems Administrator

• Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control

• Some experience with Oracle Cloud products will be an advantage

• Good familiarity with Networks protocols, Unix, Linux and Windows environments and shell scripting

• At least 5-6 years’ experience in working with Oracle products related to Database, Engineered Systems

• Fluent in Hungarian and English languages
