You will:

• * ● Work as a developer coding primarily in Python and some Javascript ● Work on Morgan Stanley’s one-stop solution for automation including the feature-rich framework and its services ● Build software that you will be proud of - very well written, extensively tested, clearly documented ● Be visible outside the firm via our open source project on github:https://github.com/morganstanley/testplan ● Get to use these technologies: Python, Bazel, Containers, Kubernetes, RedHat9, Grafana, GitHub, and Testplan

You have:

● Experience of developing large scale Python projects. ● Strong problem solving skills. Passionate about writing tools to automate work. ● Willingness to create developer oriented technical documentation.

● Background in C or Java would be beneficial. ● Web and JavaScript/TypeScript development an advantage. ● Knowledge of financial technologies is useful but is not essential.

Team Profile:

We are a team that writes Python libraries that are core to thousands of applications across Morgan Stanley. Our team provides software for other developers, enabling them to automate systems, test applications, and develop business products. We are a development team providing core code libraries to other developers.

Our software is primarily developed in Python, with high-performance components in native code and a Web UI written with React. The team works closely with our community to evolve our libraries, create new functionality and influence development practices. Our project is publicly open source on github.com and are active participants in Financial Industry Open Source community.

Upcoming challenges include innovating our distributed environment with Bazel, scaling up a business Monorepo, and expand to supporting new technologies (e.g. FPGA). We are a flexible team and subscribe to modern Agile & DevOps methods in developing our systems. This is a growing area in Morgan Stanley, we are investing in our software technologies to support the firms DevOps transformation.
