As part of Chief People Organization (CPO)Program Manager – Payroll Transformationis responsible for driving Global Payroll Transformation at Nokia.

This includes program managing the payroll transformation plan, a big part of which is managing and running multiple projects around payroll implementation/transitions in multiple countries that may come for renewals, new software implementation or completely new vendors as per plan. On the other part also managing transformation activities in the payroll domain which includes programs around enhancing employee experience, payroll effectiveness and efficiency.

This role takes the lead on payroll transformation contributing to the purpose of Payroll organization to deliver accurate and timely contractual payroll & related services; ensuring benefits, social security and taxes are correctly paid/deducted and reported in compliance and adherence to the Nokia and/or relevant country obligations ​ .

This role will contribute significantly in transforming our employee experience from payroll services and also contribute towards global footprint. She/he will partner with People Experience Payroll leadership team and across People organization & other stakeholders to ensure payroll provides efficient and effective services that support the on-going needs of the business. She/he will foster a strong team environment and a strong service culture that ensures delivery of timely and quality services to all employees and meets and enhance employee experience. Success in this role involves an ability to think big and execute nimbly in order to transform our employee experience, take ownership and accountability on payroll topic. The position reports to Global Head of Payroll.

What you will learn and contribute to

As part of our team, you will:

  • Manage Payroll Transformation program for payroll vendor system implementation including integration with the HR Management System (Oracle HCM) configurations, testing and roll out with support from HR systems, IT & other relevant teams.

  • Lead payroll vendor implementation from requirement gathering, documentation, implementation, testing and hyper-care to streamline and automate, enhance the employee experience while managing strong internal controls and data integrity.

  • Lead payroll transformation projects enhancing employee experience from payroll while also improving upon payroll process effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Ability to gather pain points from end users, design a solution, develop a project plan, and partner with stakeholders for completion.

  • Envisaging and implementing analytics from payroll and bringing value add to our stakeholders and customers.

  • Partner with HR Systems, IT, Finance & Accounts, and other relevant teams to support releases from a payroll operations standpoint.

  • Co-represent payroll operations, processes, and impacts in cross-functional projects.

  • Include a deep understanding of the global payroll operations lifecycle including data inputs, time entry, one-time payments, Equity, Global Mobility and other benefits into roll out of payroll services.

  • Support data integrations between HR Systems and payroll systems.

  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders across the company.

  • Together with the payroll leadership team plans and lives the vision to deliver user-friendly, high-quality, modern & cost-effective payroll & related services provided by competent professionals

  • Support payroll leadership team in developing a long-term payroll strategy and providing a stable payroll operation while collaborating with other People and Finance teams to ensure inter-dependencies are working well as intended and statutory and business requirements are met.

  • Transform the payroll operations to become more automated, digital and scalable to enhance employee experience.

  • Coach and mentor team members of the payroll function, providing leadership to the team.

  • Continuously reskilling and upskilling payroll team to service excellence, quality, project management as well as enabling technologies while creating a digital and agile workforce.

    Your skills and experience

    You have:

  • Exposure to large payroll transformation projects including payroll vendor changes in large multi nationals spread across continents.

  • Extensive Program and/or Transformation Management experience in a related industry, including managing complex software implementations.

  • 5+ years as a Project Manager working with different business/functional teams

  • Experience working and contributing to project playbooks, building schedules, managing issues/risks, establishing communication plans and stakeholder management.

  • Formal Project Management qualifications - PMP, Prince 2 equivalent

  • Management experience of operational Payroll process, statutory obligations, compliances, benefits, taxation matters and related knowledge.

  • Leadership and team management with multicultural and diverse team management experience.

  • Business Process improvement through continuous improvement tools and techniques with experience delivering standardization, automation and efficiency outcomes.

  • Highly experienced at working in a complex environment, across European geographies and managing a range of stakeholders and collaborating to deliver quality outcomes.

  • Experience with key stakeholders’ relationships to improve and enhance operational effectiveness and the overall service delivery of the Payroll function.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; adept at interacting with and influencing a variety of internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels.

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Having both perspectives: eye for detail and helicopter view.

  • Experienced in driving change successfully

  • Co-operative team player and team leader

  • Able to distinguish and operate at both strategic levels and at task levels
