About You

We are looking for a financial professional who previously had exposure to foreign exchange and related risk management and who is ready to shape the strategy of a key financial function on a global level. We are looking for someone who is inquisitive and wants to know what the key drivers are, constantly asking why and considering what if scenarios.

Function

Group Treasury operates across London and Budapest and carries out a full range of Treasury activities, including group funding, investment of funds, FX and interest rate risk management, cash management, risk financing and corporate finance. The FX Strategy Team is responsible for designing and implementing Diageo’s FX strategy, policy and managing all the Group FX exposures. Our team is also responsible for the assessment and coordination of group level projects from an FX Risk management perspective (e.g.: acquisitions, disposals, and restructurings).

The team is closely aligned with Treasury Capital Markets team in all group funding and debt currency choice decisions which can impact net investment hedging or monetary position risk management. It jointly monitors the group’s short term FX swap portfolio and actively looking for opportunities to minimize the cost of that.

About the Role

The FX Strategy Junior Manager provides support in the innovation of Group FX processes and overall FX strategy including productivity, pro-active risk management, and interest cost optimization initiatives. The role is the first point of contact for all group level projects having FX implications and ensures that these are properly considered and managed from foreign exchange risk perspective. The role builds and maintains great stakeholder relationships within and outside of Group Treasury and engages these stakeholders to ensure that foreign exchange impacts are considered properly, accounted for consistently and in line with Group Accounting requirements across the Group.

The FX Strategy Junior Manager is also ensures that the group bears no significant foreign exchange volatility and oversight the trades managing this risk from and between the group’s Treasury entities, holding and operating companies. The role assesses the foreign exchange and net investment hedging implications of the significant one-off projects (e.g. tax projects, acquisitions or disposals) and operates the group’s net investment strategy in line with the FX policy. The role reports to the Head of FX Strategy and is managing the day-to-day operation of the FX Strategy team.

Experience required/Skills/Capabilities/Languages

  • At least 4-5 years working experience at multinational companies’ finance department

  • Good understanding of FX forecasting, FX risk management and accounting basics

  • ACCA / Accounting qualification is an advantage, but not required

  • Prior experience in banking / financial institutions is an advantage

  • Knowledge of financial instruments and related accounting is an advantage

  • Ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with key stakeholders

  • Ability to oversee complex processes and identify improvement opportunities

  • Ability to engage and motivate others to drive solution
