Leek Transplants: Field worker to harvest leek transplants by walking in uneven furrows. Using hands, employee bends at the waist and pulls a handful of transplants from furrow. Under the direction of the field supervisors, employees determine size\ and quality of transplants to be harvested. After determining quantity based on an estimated amount of plants in bundle employee wraps the bundle with a rubber band so that there are approximately 84 plants in a bundle. After bundling plants employee will place 60 bundles into a RPC or similar crate packaging. Supervisors will then inspect for accuracy of leeks per bundle and bundles per crate. Once checked crates will be palletized. Prepare freshly harvested crop for shipment.
Cabbage Transplants: Field worker to harvest cabbage transplants by walking in uneven furrows. Using hands, employee bends at the waist and pulls a handful of cabbage transplants from furrow. Employee will then place the cabbage transplant into a\ RPC length wise. Under the direction of the field supervisors, employees determine size and quality of transplants to be harvested. Employee will repeat process until RPC is completely full. Supervisors will inspect for accuracy and quantity determined\ at the time. Once checked crates will be palletized. Prepare freshly harvested crop for shipment.
Sprinkler & Irrigation Application and Implementation: Irrigation repair & maintenance: Workers repair and maintain irrigation equipment.
Irrigation: Field worker to perform the following duties:\ Irrigation Flood: Workers walk on uneven furrows. Using a shovel, workers shape and/or remove soil gates within the furrow to give access or obstruct water flow in field. Workers have to manually connect plastic pipes that connect the water source\ line into the field. The pipes weigh approximately 5lb, are 5ft in length, and 2 inches in width.\ Pre-Irrigation: Workers walk on wet uneven furrows and across beds. Field workers move within the field looking for any non-working or clogged sprinkler. Under the direction of the field supervisor, workers make sure sprinkler are not clogged or have\ any pipe disconnected. Pre-irrigation is used to water down soil and prepare the field prior to farming.\ Irrigation: Workers walk on uneven furrows. Field workers pick and/or lay sprinkler and irrigation pipes. They are grouped in groups of 3 workers. One worker drives the tractor, and the other two workers walk behind a tractor and a trailer that carries\ aluminum pipes. Under the direction of the field supervisor, the worker grabs the pipes and sprinkler and by bending at the waist they have to manually unload and/or load pipes into the furrow to set the field up for irrigation following transplanting.\ Break/move pipes: Workers walk on uneven furrows. Field workers pick and/or lay sprinkler and irrigation pipes. After a transplanted field is watered down, workers have to move and/or break irrigation pipe lines. Under the direction of the field\ supervisor, field workers have to move and carry the aluminum pipes and sprinkler from one furrow into the next as needed to water down the field evenly. Aluminum pipes and sprinkler weigh approximately 50 lbs, 30ft in length, 2 inches in width.
General Farm Cleaning and Maintenance:\ General Cleaning: Workers perform general labor to clean up ranch as instructed by field supervisor.\ Maintenance: Workers provide Maintenance work, including repairs in ranch and equipment as instructed by field supervisor.\ General Ranch Maintenance / General Farm Labor includes, but is not limited to, on the farm road maintenance and dust control to farm roadways by means of farm equipment.\ Record information about crops, such as pesticide use, yields, or costs.\ Direct and monitor the work of casual an seasonal help during planting and harvesting.\ Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops.\ Harvest plants, and transplant or pot and label them.\ Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment.\ Harvest fruits and vegetables by hand.\ Inform farmers or farm managers of crop progress.\ Identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers.\ Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, forklifts, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops.\ Clean work areas, and maintain grounds and landscaping.\ Feel plants\' leaves and note their coloring to detect the presence of insects or disease.\ Dig, cut, and transplant seedlings, cuttings, trees, and shrubs.\ Record information about plants and plant growth.\ Maintain inventory, ordering materials as required.\ Dig, rake, and screen soil, filling cold frames and hot beds in preparation for planting.\ Inspect plants and bud ties to assess quality.\ Trap and destroy pests, such as moles, gophers, and mice, using pesticides.\ Move containerized shrubs, plants, and trees, using wheelbarrows or tracto
