Position Overview

Autodesk seeks a Software Quality Assurance Engineer to help Autodesk users imagine and design a better world by contributing to the development of Autodesk Revit - the world-leading Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. Our software is used by architects, engineers, and other building industry professionals to design everything from the world's tallest skyscrapers, largest airports, and new landmarks to homes and businesses that you visit every day.

Revit's engineering team brings intelligence and efficiency to the building design and development process by solving complex software problems.

You will have a significant impact on how we ensure the quality of our products for millions of professionals. You will report to the Software Engineering Manager and work in a cross-functional team focused on building and maintaining Revit Cloud Worksharing components. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of unique challenges which give you the chance to learn modern technology and improve your skills.

This team works remotely, with most of the team members based out of our Boston office, collaborating with a globally dispersed team. As such, your normal working hours would ideally overlap with 9 AM – 5 PM US eastern time.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in scrum team meetings, lead the quality related discussion, and define the testing scope for projects the team is working on

  • Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases based on real-world application usage

  • Document test design, test plans, and test results

  • Participate in test plan reviews with the rest of the QA and development team

  • Isolate and confirm defects and work with the team to prioritize them

  • Understand advanced Revit and Revit Cloud Model features and workflows and have sufficient knowledge of adjacent software, troubleshooting tools and techniques

  • Simulate the user experience and give feedback to product designers on design improvements

  • Engage in bigger picture discussions about the overall direction of the features to ensure that they provide a high-quality experience for our customers

  • Leverage domain knowledge to help narrow down root causes, resolve customer problems, and communicate potential risks

  • Collaborate with Product Support to find out how customers are using product features to monitor and evaluate the post-release customer experience and assist in ongoing and continuous improvement efforts

  • Keep current with Autodesk products, industry and governmental regulations, quality trends, and technology innovations

  • Actively participate in cross team initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Engineering, Architecture, or related subject area

  • 1+ years professional experience in Engineering, Architecture or similar domains

  • Knowledge of AEC domain, Autodesk Revit, and/or other AEC-related software products

  • Ability to work effectively within a highly collaborative environment with colleagues around the world. Our ideal candidate is comfortable with some regular meetings between 1-3 PM US eastern time and in return getting some flexibility in working hours during their local day

  • Excellent problem-solving and reasoning skills

  • Good teamwork spirit in a dynamic environment

  • Fluent in English (written & oral)

Preferred Qualifications

We are primarily looking for someone who has real-life experience with the process of designing buildings and is excited to learn software QA skills on the job to help us deliver great features.
