Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Controls Team Lead to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of project control processes, financial systems, and project management principles. This role requires exceptional leadership skills to guide a team in delivering accurate and timely project cost and schedule performance data.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Systems & Processes: Leverage company financial systems and processes to ensure project controls are executed effectively.
Cost Data Management: Develop proficiency in the use of company cornerstone systems, providing cost data in necessary formats to control projects efficiently.
Financial Analysis: Understand and utilize financial terminology and measures to recognize the financial impact of various project actions. Analyze financial data to identify key project issues.
Project Baseline Data: Utilize drawings and specifications to establish project baseline data.
Accounting Principles: Develop a thorough understanding of accounting principles relevant to project controls.
Trending & Forecasting: Assemble and analyze data for trending and forecasting purposes, preparing detailed analyses of progress trends and cost impacts.
Invoice Review: Participate in the review and approval of contractor invoices.
Earned Value Methodology: Apply knowledge of earned value methodology to track project performance.
Labor Cost Analysis: Collect and analyze data on manpower, labor hours, and labor cost requirements against budget limitations.
Cost Tracking: Track actual costs versus funding limitations, assisting in the management of purchase orders and subcontract commitments and expenditures.
Scope Control & Change Management: Possess comprehensive knowledge of scope control and change management processes.
Budget Creation: Assist in the creation of baseline budgets, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
Scheduling Processes: Have exposure to scheduling process concepts and principles, integrating cost and schedule performance data.
Performance Management: Understand performance management and cost/schedule integration concepts.
Project Reporting: Support the project reporting process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
Cost Review Meetings: Participate actively in project cost review meetings, contributing to strategic discussions and decision-making.
Procedure Development: Gather and analyze data to support the development of procedures and best practices.
Leadership Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project control professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Strategic Guidance: Provide strategic guidance to the team, ensuring alignment with project objectives and company goals.
Stakeholder Management: Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, providing clear and concise updates on project status and performance.
Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the team to identify and implement process enhancements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Project Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in project controls, cost engineering, or a related discipline.
Proven leadership experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
Proficiency in financial systems and project management software (e.g., SAP, Primavera P6).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
