What You'll Do

The Application Support Specialist (Finance Apps Maintenance) is a key member of the TechOps Finance Application Maintenance team. The purpose of the role is to work closely with IT Finance colleagues and other IT application teams (especially non-Finance IT areas that influence a Financial outcome) to design, develop, and implement application major and minor enhancement requests and production fixes in all areas of Finance.

The Specialist will manage the work of technicians from multiple and diverse application support vendor teams and applications areas in the delivery of application solutions and will provide timely and relevant resolutions to reported production issues and requested enhancements.

The Specialist will work closely with Global TechOps colleagues to ensure that resource prioritization is mindful of global as well as regional support demands from the same technical team. At the same time, they will adhere to global template guidelines and seek collaborative solutions where necessary with TechOps-based global partners and on occasion with Finance Functions and DTE team SMEs to deliver the most relevant IT solution for an issue or enhancement.

Key Requirements and Qualifications

50% Manage Support Vendor Teams:

  • Work with application support vendors and associated technicians and technical leads to understand SAP and non-SAP Finance issues and assist with the design and testing of solutions to both major and minor enhancements and break-fix-oriented issues.

  • Advise and establish break-fix and major and minor enhancement solutions and work with the AMS and applications development teams to ensure delivery is on time whilst adhering to incident and enhancement priority settings

  • Work with support vendor teams to prioritize work based on global as well as regional demands.

  • Consistently educate vendor AMS and AD teams about Corporate and regional finance best practices.

30% Analyze data, enhancement solutions, and production issues:

  • Work with SAP notes and other packaged source solutions or develop custom solutions.

  • Configure finance applications where necessary to handle new or enhancement requirements or breaks/fixes.

  • Document enhancement and break/fix program change and configuration specifications, gaps, data requirements, and procedures.

  • Work with AMS and application development technicians and business teams to develop scenarios for unit and acceptance testing of the functionality of an enhancement solution or break/fix.

  • Conduct knowledge transfer training sessions where necessary with other IT teams to educate them regarding any developed changes.

  • Align with IT SMEs and Global TechOps colleagues before developing and configuring solutions for enhancements and break/fixes.

  • Assist in the preparation of multi-scale heterogeneous data sets to support testing of enhancements and breaks/fixes where relevant.

20% Partner with IT Functions and DTE to deliver application enhancements and resolve production issues:

  • Work closely and collaboratively with multiple IT and business teams to plan the delivery of, design, build, test, and deploy new finance-related major and minor application enhancements or production breaks/fixes.

  • Responsible for ensuring successful deployment and stabilization of finance application major and minor enhancement and AMS-related changes.

  • Document processes, configuration, data flows/transformations, and algorithms associated with application changes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education level : Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an IT-relevant discipline (such as Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Applied Math, etc,)

  • Minimum Years of Experience: 5 years related experience

  • Required Language Proficiency: Confidence and proficiency in English, including for business, is a prerequisite.

  • Licenses or Certifications: Six Sigma

A sound knowledge of large organization complex and multi-disciplined finance business practices and procedures.

Knowledgeable of diverse regional legal and statutory requirements.

Experience in Managing 3 rd Party application and integration providers.

Knowledge of the following SAP Finance application areas ideally across many of the following to have an end view of finance.

  • SAP Accounts Payable

  • SAP Accounts receivable

  • SAP Fixed Assets

  • SAP Financial Accounting (FI) overall

  • SAP Controlling (CO) overall

  • COPA

  • SAP BPC, SAP GRC, SAP Concur

  • Some knowledge of SAP WM and SAP OM applications is desirable

  • Some knowledge of Hyperion application solutions is desirable

Can lead by example with an ability to work with and direct a team of highly competent and multi-disciplined technicians in the execution of application support tasks. Work with multiple vendor partners in the delivery of technical solutions across all finance areas, both SAP and non-SAP.

Establish break/fix as well as minor enhancement solutions.

Establish solutions for larger and more complex regional enhancement requests.
