We are seeking a compassionate Veterinary Technician I to join our team and assist in the treatment of small animals admitted to our hospital.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in veterinary technology, biomedical science, animal science or a related area, or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Basic computer skills. General understanding of equipment used in a veterinary medical teaching hospital.
The well-qualified candidate will also possess one year experience in a veterinary medical setting and possess a certification as a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS), certification in Emergency and Critical Care, Anesthesia, or Internal Medicine and have general understanding of equipment used in a veterinary medical teaching hospital such as anesthetic machines, fluid pumps, blood gas analyzers, oscilloscopes, defibrillators, and nebulizers.
Some of the Responsibilities Include:
Patient Care: Monitors and administers medications to Fluid Ward patients, maintains a clean environment, and will monitor fluid therapy, perform pain score assessments, feed patients according to clinician’s orders.
Medical Procedures: Performs various medical procedures such as placing and maintaining IV and urinary catheters, bandages, and wound management.
Record Keeping: Maintains complete and accurate medical records including patient’s physical and medical status, medications administered, and changes in medical orders. You will capture and input fees into the VMIS system.
Laboratory Monitoring: Assists with laboratory monitoring by performing various tests (NOVA, glucose level, lactate, PCV/TS, and blood typing); will assist clinicians and students with sample collection.
Student Guidance: Provides instruction and guidance to students and participates in continuing education seminars and laboratory instruction.
Emergency Care: Provides life-sustaining emergency care including CPCR and defibrillation, and oxygen therapy.

Starting Salary: $19.11
Day and Night shifts available for ICU and Progressive Care
Schedule: The schedules are rotating, working 10-hour shifts and will require working alternate shifts, holidays, weekends, or on-call duty.
Essential Personnel: Persons in this position are considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc.
