Lead Training Coordinator
Primary Purpose:
To lead and train the daily training duties for Commercial Learner Permit (CLP) and Entry Level Driver Training (EDLT) meeting federal requirements.
Experience/Education/Certification/Requirement:
- High School Diploma or equivalency

``` - T raining adults in workforce skills

``` - Minimum two years school bus driving experience
Preferred Texas AandM Engineering Extension Services (TEEX) or trainer academy certification for school bus trainer
Special Knowledge and Skills
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Must be able to successfully pass US Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol requirements and complete annual DOT physical examination.
Must successfully clear Criminal Background check.
Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record as determined by the Department of Public Safety.
Must be able to complete required bus driver safety training and school bus driver certification.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Knowledgeable of methods for teaching adults.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
Safe driving practices and methods; Minimum two years accident free.
Understand principles, methods, techniques and strategies for the training of school bus drivers.
Knowledgeable of provisions of the Federal ELDT rules regarding the operation of vehicles in the transportation of students and in the training of school bus drivers.
Principles methods and procedures related to a large pupil transportation system.
Principles and practices of supervision and training.
Microsoft Office programs.
Google suite of tools.
Performance Responsibilities:
Align the major functions of the assignment with district goals such that all students succeed.
- Coordinate, plan and implement training programs for Basic School Bus Driving Courses; assist with Inservice programs for school bus drivers and monitors to meet
State and Federal requirements; conduct safe driving and safe working methods and procedures training programs as specifically required.
- Train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel; schedule and assign work; counsel and recommend disciplinary actions and recommend
removal of applicants from the training program, as appropriate.
Work with DPS to schedule written CLP test.
Work with the trip coordinator to ensure trip drivers are trained and skills tested for trip buses.
Assist in the interviewing, selection, and evaluation of bus drivers and bus monitors.
Drive buses of varying sizes and complexity over designated routes in accordance with time schedules.
Prepare and maintain a variety of bus driver records. Ensure training records are complete and filed per federal and state requirements.
Conduct field investigations of vehicular accidents involving school buses; participate as a member of theAccident Review Committee as requested.
Maintain records and statistics of district school bus drivers, trainers and bus monitors.
Conduct initial and annual drivers license reviews.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain regular attendance.
Limited travel within the State of Texas.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Require stretches of sitting (80%) and frequent twisting and bending (20%).
Work positions include kneeling (10%), climbing (10%) with extended reach above the head (20%) and extended reach in front of the body (80%) above 12 inches and in front 14 inches.
Loads and unloads vehicle making frequent stops fifty to one hundred times per day. Lifting and pulling up to ten pounds on hand device to open and close bus door.
