TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION E282 Transportation Engineer I, II, or III (TPamp;D Sections) in Bryan, Texas

Performs advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and/or maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Essential Duties:Transportation Engineer I, II, or III:Assists Project Managers related to resource assignments, schedules, scope, communication, quality, and procurement, while utilizing available resources and maintaining agency project objectives. Assists with design, computer operations and plan preparation. Assists with the development of design and project development reports, surveys and correspondence. Coordinates on design schematics.Coordinates with properties, utility companies, attorneys and governmental representatives to accurately depict the highway project's impact on adjacent properties. Drives/travels to project/work locations to make on-site engineering reviews, analysis, tests, and to provide technical support. Additional Duties for a Transportation Engineer II:Negotiates fees, explains scope of work and monitors consultant design contracts. Performs complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates, and contracts.Performs complex planning work such as plan review, calculations, and assisting in transportation planning studies. Additional Duties for a Transportation Engineer III:Performs advanced and complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specification, estimates and contracts. Perform advanced and complex planning work such as plan review, calculations and transportation planning studies. Utilizes project management principles in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing for complex transportation projects.
