TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION A563 Management Liaison - Bryan District in Bryan, Texas

Performs complex professional outreach to communicate transportation initiatives to the public and local partners. May serve as lead worker for professional, technical and/or administrative employees. Work requires extensive contact with high-level executives, managers, and governmental agencies. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.Essential Duties: Serves as a District point of contact for Federal/State/local elected officials and their staff. Routinely updates elected officials and their staff on current and future projects within the District. Direct point of contact for all constituent concerns and inquiries relayed through Federal/State/Local officials. Stay abreast of and inform the District Engineer of any local issues that may require Department involvement. Heavily involved in all development of materials that represent the District pertaining to all major projects requiring public involvement and for public consumption. Identify potential project related impacts and risks to the community/public. Communicate with District Engineer throughout all stages of the project development process. Represents the District when the District Engineer/Deputy District Engineer are not available to meet with officials or their staff. Assists the District Engineer as liaison with Legislative Affairs Division to get prompt responses to any issues/inquiries that arrive at the district. Ensures that any correspondence from the office of the District Engineer or representing the Bryan District is messaged properly and effectively. Serves as Media Liaison Officer handling inquiries from the Public Information Office, the general public, the media, and others as requested. Prepares fact sheets and news releases. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
