Reviews and processes utility permits requests received in a district office from public utility companies, common carriers, and others placing facilities on public highway rights-of-way. Work requires extensive contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.Essential Duties:Permit Coord. II: Prepares and reviews correspondence and reports, and monitors data related to permit activities and compliance.Consults with area engineer and/or maintenance supervisor on complex utility/driveway permit issues.Consults with engineering, maintenance, and right-of-way concerning compliance with the Utility Accommodation Policy (UAP).Reviews and processes utility permit requests, applications, agreements, and plans submitted to ensure compliance with the Utility Accommodation Policy (UAP) and other departmental requirements with emphasis on uniform application.Coordinates with local utility companies, engineering consultants and the general public regarding utility placements and monitors progress of installation requests.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Permit Coord. III: Includes all Duties listed above plus the following:Trains and instructs others in permit related work.Conducts reviews of processed permits by other staff members to ensure accuracy and completeness in accordance with department guidelines.Permit Coord. IV: Includes all Duties listed above plus the following:May serve as a lead worker by serving as a resource for complex questions; presenting workflow and operational updates to the supervisor/manager; providing input on team membersandrsquo; career conversations; and approving leave requests to ensure operations coverage.Develops and maintains technical and administrative procedures related to permitting activities.

Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum QualificationsPermit Coordinator III:Experience: 2 years permit and/or utility processing and/or coordination or related administrative/clerical support experience (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent).
