JOB DESCRIPTION JOB ASSIGNMENT: WIGGINS POOL MANAGER (Seasonal) JOB NUMBER: 20-0725 DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation PAY: $14.13per hour (Returning for 2nd year - $14.38 per hour) IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Recreation/Aquatics Supervisor

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This is a part-time seasonal position and is scheduled to work less than 30 hours per week during spring and summer, and less than 1000 hours per fiscal year. Position is responsible for record keeping, delegating daily duties, chemical and water testing. Position is responsible for constant observance of various age groups for swimming in the pool; to control the public in the use of the pool facilities; to administer first aid in case of accidents or emergencies around pool areas; to call for additional assistance immediately when necessary. Responsible for keeping the restrooms and pool area clean according to health regulations. Responsible for using standard pool operation procedures. Must be willing to adopt and exhibit the City of Brownwood I SERVE Core Values.

EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC WORK PERFORMED:

  • Will constantly observe participants in the pool
  • Will watch for water safety and enforce all safety rules
  • in and out of the water
  • Will keep all areas of the pool and restroom areas clean
  • Will administer first aid
  • and respond immediately to call for assistance in case of accidents or emergencies in and around the pool area
  • and the premises
  • Will be responsible for taking regular interval readings of chlorine and PH levels and
  • check necessary equipment for sanitation of pools
  • Mow, weed-eat, and rake lawn
  • Must conduct and
  • document weekly in service Lifeguard training
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Recreation Supervisor.

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Pool Manager will be responsible for the supervision of all lifeguards at Wiggins Pool.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Outdoors: exposed to sun and water the majority of the time.
  • Work is pleasant most of the time.
  • Ability to sit, stand and drive a vehicle to and from various worksites.
  • Employee will be exposed to seasonal temperatures while performing maintenance duties and be exposed to mechanical and chemical hazards.
  • Ability to lift materials weighing up to 30 pounds frequently and 50-100 pounds occasionally and be able to drag up to 80pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, walk, push brooms, and sweep.
  • Ability to operate a lawn mower and weed-eater.
  • Ability to walk over sloped and uneven terrain.
  • Work involves getting dirty and wet, and cutting grass.
  • Employee will be exposed to dirt, dust, noises, fumes, and odors.
  • Ability to communicate inwriting and verbally with the public.
  • Ability to understand verbal and written communication.

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS: Constant contact with lifeguards, other city employees and the general public.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must have enough education to at least read and write.
